My package left Knoxville TN on 5-18-22, and should have gone West to Missouri. Somehow it ended up in Jersey City NJ a week later, and never left. I filed an inquiry but didn't learn anything. A week later, still no updates. I have learned that the Jersey City Distribution Center is pretty much considered a black hole, things go in but never come out. Any suggestions of further steps I could take?

File a lost package claim immediately at USPS. After 21 days from the acceptance scan the claim will be paid, whether it later gets delivered or not. This also often finds and gets the package moving again.

#1. What have you done?
#2. Have you talked to your local Postmaster?
#3. Have you followed the procedures online at USPS and opened a ticket for the problem(s)?
#4. Have you written your Congressperson about the issues at the Plant? Trust me, if you have a good one, they will get involved.
All of the above requires you to take an action. Without any action, things will only remain the status quo.
Good luck.

I had a package that was addressed right but the vendor's Q-code info was wrong, the package kept going from JErsey City to the wrong post office and back, finally someone in Jersey City fixed the issue.

I think Newman works in the New Jersey post office. Any packages from the west coast that pass through NJ facility are like in a blackhole. I already lost countless records. The packages might be recoverable in some nearby mini-storage.
