Post office box problems

If the seller does not want to deliver to a post office box, but I use my post office's physical address, could this potentially get me in trouble with ebay? What if the seller's shipping company refuses to deliver after I've already paid for the item?

You can use your post office's address without issue @hadji827 if your post office offers that service. Learn more about it here: https://postalpro.usps.com/mailing/competitivepoboxes

If you paid for the item...it has to be shipped by the seller to the 'address of payment'.

'seller's shipping company refuses to deliver?'....Why?

i have never heard of a carrier refusing to cooperate with USPS's  "street addressing" system.

Using "Street addressing" will certainly not get you in any trouble with eBay.  And most sellers won't even notice the difference between that and a regular residential address. Just be sure that your PO allows it and that you fill out the appropriate form.

Hi, I really have not heard this before.  I THINK that once you have purchased & paid for an item - The seller is obligated to ship to your eBay registered address & I just cannot see the shipper refusing to do so.  As a seller I have shipped to P.O. boxes often without issue.  Good Luck!  (J.B.)

Thanks. Just theoretical because it occurred to me that the shipping company might not realize that it's going to a post office until it's too late. I figured I was safe, but I thought I should check into it. It's worth noting that when I change my post office box to a street address, the sellers listing now wants my personal phone number "in case there is a problem with the shipping." I really don't want to give out my personal number but if I don't put it in the space provided, the transaction will not go through. Sometimes, the seller personally tells me that I don't need to worry about the post office box for the phone number-- but since that's the way their preferences are set up, the transaction cannot be completed unless I give the proper information. Because of where I live, I absolutely must use a post office box-- and as far as I know, there are only two ways to otherwise fix this problem: get the seller to change their preferences for their listings (which they are unlikely to do) or, hopefully, find a seller for the same item that ships USPS.
