Possible shipping scam question

Hello, so i recieved an order for an item im selling and he has on his ebay account a Alabama address but the first message was he wanted me to send to X address in florida. Well ive already delt with this before so i checked paypal and the transaction was the address he has on file for his ebay account ( the Alabama one ) I was unaware of the message he had sent at the time as i do my packing and shipping fairly quickly seen the address listed on paypal as verified and payment was received and i sent out the package to that confirmed address. I log onto ebay to see that, that address, was infact on his ebay file. But this is where i noticed the message he wanted it sent to FL. I paid for signature upon reviving on paypals check out printing service. Am i covered if he tries to snake me with a claim?

The first question I would have is are you sure that the message sent to you was actually from your buyer? You are covered if you sent the item to the address attached to the payment.

To protect yourself you need to ship to the address in the "ships to" portion of the payment page. That is what determines your postage if you use the calculator also.

I'd message them.

Dear Buyer, I saw your cleared payment and printed the label and shipped the package to the address that is in the "ships to" area of the payment page as I am bound to do under eBay rules. I did not get your message about the Florida address until afterward. I could not , per eBay rules, ship to there anyway as we are required to ship to the address provided in the "ships to" section of the payment page.

Possible shipping scam question

the address on their ebay account on the page where i checked the bought item was an alabama address. ( they sent a message after buying saying they added the wrong address ) i checked my paypal statement and the address registered on the paypal statement was of the same exact alabama address. I bought the shipping label from paypal with the extra payment of requiring a signature to protect myself slightly more. I had emailed them to let them know i had shipped it to their addredd on both the ebay and paypal payment file. They sent back a message saying they actually wanted it ship to X which was a totally different address than the last one they requested or the one on file. I suspected i was being snaked around and told them it was shipped with seller protection and signature security.

I wouldn't doubt that their account got hacked. I'd check and see if the Florida  address happens to be a freight forwarder.

It was thats why i opted for signature option. ive delt with freight forwarders before and have had ok things with them before but only twice. So i wasnt about to take a risk. I sent it to the paypal address on file verified on their paypal account invoice and it was also the same address on their ebay account.

A standard signature tracking won't help. All carriers will take any adult signature at the address. To be protected at all you would need RESTRICTED signature tracking where only the addressee can sign.
