I am going to sell my late husband's boy scout patches and I need to know what is the best (and cheapest) way to mail these out. I know the profit isn't much on single patches ....so how should I do this. I haven't listed any yet, as I need to know the approximate cost of mailing these, before I set my price. Thank you for any help!

Are there collectors of Boy Scout patches?

Depends on how old they are, and how rare: yep there be collectors:
As for the topic: store a lot of em in draft form and list as many at one time as you can: use a combined shipping so some collector can purchase more then one at a time.
Or list in groups of patches.
Best advice would be to look at the sold listings to see if they will or will not sell before listing em.

You won't be surprised to hear that "best" is not the same as "cheapest." Patches can be sent as a regular letter with a Forever stamp. but if you want tracking (i.e., proof of delivery and protection against fake "Item not received" claims), you'll have to mail them as First Class packages, which costs $3.37 to $3.86 online, depending on the buyer's location.
Many sellers of small lower-value items (stickers, decals, cards, patches, etc.) run their eBay business successfully mailing without tracking; I suspect that Boy Scout patches are not a high-scam item so if I were you I'd mail them as letters.
Do some research on eBay Completed and Sold listings to see what the demand might be. You might consider selling them in lots, which will save you on both postage and funds processing fees (eBay takes 30 cents per transaction).
