Partial refund

Just wondering how long it should be taking for me to get a partial refund. Seller agreed to partial refund as item was not new as described, but it has been 3 days and all I have for proof that credit has been started is sellers word. I have not received an email saying “credit on its way” or anything so I’m not sure if I should be getting any email as this is only a partial refund and I am keeping item.  Can anybody suggest if I should trust veteran seller or how long should I wait before asking EBay to step in and help?  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Partial refund

Did you open a claim?

Did seller offer partial refund through the claim?

If through a claim, seller will make a formal partial refund offer.  You will then need to accept it.

How did you pay?  Through PayPal?  Log into your account and see if a partial has been issued.

Partial refund

Thank you for the quick response. I did not open a formal claim as I was hoping to resolve it without bothering anybody if possible. And when I explained the problem seller and I agreed on a partial refund in lieu of full return. I paid with a one time credit card that is not listed on my paypal accnt, but did notice when my payment was being processed, it did say thru PayPal which I thought was because all purchases made thru eBay were processed through PayPal and did not necessarily need to be listed as a card on my Paypal accnt. I don’t know?

But ya, no formal claim opened yet, I’m not sure what to do at this point, if refund takes 30 days or more, I will be out of 30 day purchase protection and from my understanding eBay can no longer step in at that point. At the same time I don’t want to seem impatient or impossible. I have checked my PayPal accnt and it shows absolutely nothing of this purchase or the CC I used. When I check my cc(Capital 1) it only shows the purchase/charge on 7th but does not show credit pending. All communication between me and seller has been through eBay and is all archived so I have our entire email conversation. She said she did it but by next day I hadn’t seen any email so she sent me a screw of the page showing my name and amount credited.?? ?

Thanks again

Partial refund

One way to see the refund is to find the transaction on eBay under purchase history or if you have a direct link you can open it from there. On the top left click "View order details". When you open the page on the left it shows how much you paid. If you received any refund, it will show up on this page, assuming that the seller issued the refund using Paypal's "refund" link. It won't work if he/she sent the refund via the "send money" tab.

If you are unable to locate the refund you can always ask for a Paypal refund transaction ID number, all refunds have one.

Partial refund

Because the seller has not acted on his promise, open the eBay dispute.

A refund or partial refund takes only minutes to start and only a little more time to complete.

BUT

If you bought using a credit card to back your Paypal purchase, the refund will be slower (because it goes from Paypal to the card) and will appear on the card not your PP account (because you did not pay with money, which PP handles, but with credit, which is complicated).

Politely ask the seller for the PP transaction number he was given when he processed the refund.

If he does not answer, go to the Dispute.
