Hi, how long do I have to wait before reimbursing buyer.
I mailed a package to Kentucky and it’s still in transit. Last stop was Indianapolis 3/21 and it is still in transit to Kentucky. My customer has contacted eBay about this. I went to the USPS site and they told me package is late but still on its way.
How long before I have to refund the customer.
I don’t want to reimburse and then she gets the purse.
I really appreciate any help I can get.

If the buyer has opened an Item Not Received request you have 3 days to resolve, if you do not the buyer can ask eBay to step in. If that happens eBay will refund the buyer from your money, you will not get a refund of fees paid and you will have a serious Defect applied to your account.
Since the tracking is quite recent eBay may put a hold on the refund request to allow more time for delivery.

INDIANAPOLIS DISTRIBUTION CENTER is a complete mess and has been for months on end with little improvement. You must do a missing mail search on USPS.COM so they can identify the package and get it moving. I have had to do this so many times when packages get struck there that if I see a shipment that may hit that center I contact the buyers and tell them we are sending FEDEX. It is that bad. Dejoy screwed up that distribution center when doing the consolidation of distribution centers in Indianapolis.

The reason your packages get stuck there for an eternity is because they are overloaded and not enough staff, truck etc to get the mail sorted and out of that facility. They have truckloads of packages just sitting there in big piles.
