I shipped a package that was supposed to go to Texas. However, now I see by the USPS tracking number that it has just been processed through a USPS facility in San Francisco, California! My question is, what do I do if somehow I put the wrong label on the package and instead of it going to my buyer in Texas, it goes to someone in California? How do I get it to my buyer in Texas?

If you are seeing an issue on only one package tracking # then likely it just took a wrong turn.

You can verify where you sent the package 2 ways.
1. Ebay sent you an email after you purchased the shipping label. It's titled : "Your eBay label is ready". Full info is included.
2. Go to your Seller's Hub. Under ORDERS, scroll down to Shipping Labels, select Shipment details for your package to see the details.

In USPS version 2022 it is not uncommon to see packages do a USA tour before finally arriving home.

A quick way to check where it was sent is Seller Hub/Orders/Shipping labels. Tick the 'Actions' drop-down menu and tick 'Print another label'. You'll see the same address that you used earlier. (Arrow back so that you don't actually print the label again... you're just checking info.) Good luck.

thank you all. actually, I took it to the PO and had it scanned in. they gave me a receipt, and sure enough, it was for the correct address. It has now been days and no info on where the package is. USPS tells me to wait until 7/12/22. If they don't find it by then, I guess I will refund the buyer's money. Good grief! Do you think Fedex and UPS are better? thanks for the input, I really appreciate it!

No, any company that moves a few million packages every day is bound to make a few mistakes!

There is really no need for you to do anything.
If the buyer does not receive the package they will most likely know to open INR and you deal with that if and when it happens.
As my old mum always used to say ''Don't borrow trouble''

You do NOT refund the money. You will tell the buyer to be please be patient because your box is on a cross-country trip. Do NOT refund . Do NOT REFUND. DO NOT REFUND.
Just email your buyer. If they open an item do NOT received case, do NOT refund. Wait the alotted 3 days. By then , you should see movement on the box. do NOT refund.
You can also go to the USPS postal website and type in your tracking #. There is an option where the post office will notify you when there is movement.

You don't need to refund the buyer's money unless and until they file INR and tracking isn't showing delivery.
Sometimes items get delivered and the carrier forgets to scan it as delivered.

BTW, I wouldn't even contact the buyer. (If the buyer contacts you, that's different.)
Often, buyers aren't even aware of checking tracking and as long as they get the item, they're happy. But if you point out to the buyer that tracking isn't showing delivery, some less than honest buyers open INR and ultimately get their refund plus the item.

thank you all again. Yes, the buyer has contacted me, is not asking for the money back, is wondering WTH it went to California, and says he thinks the whole thing is funny. In the meantime, I have contacted USPS and the local branch supervisor is helping me . Two years on ebay and this has never happened before. One package took a long time to get there, but didn't go cross country. Trying to be patient. Thanks again.
