Package hasn’t been accepted at origin facility

I’m a new seller and just sent out several packages. Five of my seven orders were accepted at the USPS origin facility and are on their way while the other two are still listed as only having tracking information provided. They were all intended to be shipped out Priority Mail but the two that haven’t been accepted yet are in different packaging. Could this be the culprit or is it a simple update delay with USPS tracking?

Package hasn’t been accepted at origin facility

One of the things I learned as a new seller was that the ONLY way to insure an acceptance scan was to hand the package(s) to a clerk and walk out with a receipt.  For multiple packages a scan sheet works too.

But hey, while standing in line I frequently see people come in and place a stack of boxes brightly adorned with eBay tape on the counter and walk away.  Then again, I see many posts where sellers do not have acceptance scans on their packages.

Now that said, recently I DID get an acceptance scan at the USPS and had a paper receipt but the USPS website wasn't updated with the scan when I got home as it usually does.  In fact, it took several days for the "system" to update and when it did it showed the date & time it was scanned at the counter.  So it could be a glitch.

When a package doesn't get that initial scan then one isn't going to see any updates until it gets to recipient's PO.  Packages are consolidated into containers and those containers movements get reported, but if your package wasn't scanned the system doesn't 'know" it is in the container.  Thus a package might get its first scan at the recipient's PO when received there and out for delivery!

So I doubt packaging is a problem unless you used a FedEx or UPS container to ship in!

I’ve had that happen a few times. Go to the USPS via PayPal by clicking on tracking number shown with buyer’s name/payment, sign up for text updates and usually your packages’ tracking updates will mysteriously reappear.

it is a simple update delay

seriously, why are you even looking at tracking, its not going to do anything for you

next thing you know you`ll be contacting your buyers telling them you are sorry for late whatever

looking at tracking is not a requirement, its just a timewaster

learn to ignore tracking numbers and you will sleep better

It's a simple update delay. When the scan events finally show up in the tracking history, they will show the original date that each one occurred.

Note that "Accepted at origin facility" means that your local post office didn't bother to do Acceptance scans themselves. They need to do so (and are expected to do so) when you present the items for mailing.
