For several years, I have been paying $7.52 to ship with a flat rate padded envelope.

Now eBay is charging $7.93. When did this change? Did I miss an announcement?

USPS added 25-cent surcharge for the online rates for First Class packages, effective October 18 to December 27. The current online price is $8.15; apparently you're a TRS getting eBay's 3% further discount.

It's a USPS temp rate increase for the Christmas shipping season. They expect ho handle more parcels during that time. You would think all the extra packages would bring in enough to cover their shipping cost?

All USPS Priority mail services, including the padded flat rate envelope, increased by 40 cents with exception of Priority Express which increased by $1.50 from Oct 18 thru Dec 27, 2020.

This is the first time I've ever experienced a temporary price hike from USPS. All the other times it's permanent.

I wonder how likely USPS will decide to adopt this price as permanent if once they realize that they can get away with it. (I.e. lower it back down for a short while for legal reasons then swing it right back up).

USPS has already announced the prices that will go into effect in late January as their regular annual new rates.

I have been a carrier with USPS since 2000. I have never seen so many packages. Normally we do need a bit of help from the subs from Black Friday to the New Year. Now it is a rare thing to not have at least a couple packages that we just can't fit in the vehicle.

If you would have told me even 2 years ago that I would be delivering multible cases of TP, Daipers, Dog Food and Cat Litter on a daily basis I wouldn't have believed you. Believe me I know know more about my cutomers habits than I ever wanted to.
