Why are so many “Sellers” using huge over inflated shipping costs? Are they doing this to mislead buyers, and skirting more profits on an item?
These practices are wrong !
Lets be real! In some cases the shipping is 3x or 4x!!

if you feel the shipping is too much, you can contact the seller and ask for specifics, such as:
does it include insurance, what type of shipping method is it, etc
in the end, just don't buy from them if you don't agree with the shipping charges

More like trying to mislead buyers! But eBay realizes its going on I’m sure! If eBay asked randomly for shipping receipts it would clean up these very bogus inflated shipping charges!

I have never once been outraged that a pizza shop charges $3.50 to deliver to my house, even if it is more than their cost, and by a lot. I’ve never once called a movie theater to tell them that I find their “convenience” fee to be insulting,
eBay makes it easy - they do the math for you, so you know what the TOTAL price is. Just ask the seller if he’ll knock five bucks off of shipping in exchange for $6 more in the item price. Problem solved.

Keep in mind that the shipping receipts wouldn't include shipping materials and handling time... add ons.
If the seller is charging too much, find a seller more in line with what you consider fair.

Can you give an example? Such as how big the item is or a specific item. The post office has raised it's rates. Anything over 2lbs cost a small fortune depending on how big it is, the weight and from where it's shipping from and to.

Without more details @southcoastcashregister2012 , we don't know if shipping charges are inflated or if you just aren't aware of the cost of shipping.
In this post, I gave an example of how one might have assumed the seller was gouging when in fact, it's not gouging.

Sellers pay fees based on the total amount the buyer pays. This includes item price, shipping & handling costs and sales taxes paid by the buyer.
As already stated, if you don’t like the all-in price, find a price that fits your budget.
Then again, maybe they accidentally entered the wrong values when setting up the shipping.
Not everything is a conspiracy.

No sellers pay on the sale of the item only! They don’t pay a % on the shipping! I see we might have a few big Ebayers on here commenting that know they like this additional hidden profit margin! Really pizza fee? Lol Ok put in search “Sam4s cash register” there are a few registers with shipping fees over $100 bucks!!! I send registers all across the country with insurance for under $30-$40 bucks! And I’m just using this as one example but this is far spread all throughout the entire platform! Lol if you paid only $3.50 for the pizza delivery on eBay the same delivery fee might be $30! Just keeping it real folks! Loophole exposed! In da millions I bet $$$$

eBay has been charging a final value fee based on the buyer's entire payment, including shipping, since 2011.

No loophole.
I can charge as much as I want for shipping, and eBay charges me 12.55% of the amount I am paid for shipping just as they charge me on the cost of the item as well as on the sales tax a buyer may pay.

That's a 100% false statement. eBay sellers not only pay final value fees on shipping, they also pay it on any sales tax charged to the buyer. Fees are paid on the total amount of the sale - this information is not difficult to find.

If we charge shipping we pay 10% of that shipping cost on top of the FVF. If I charge $8.00 to ship something I’m charged .80 in additional fees. If it’s free shipping g then no there is no charge.
10-25-2021 05:00 PM
Oops my bad it’s not 10% anymore it’s all added together now. So I pay 11.7% in fees so if I charge shipping it’s added in there as well to the fee
10-25-2021 05:13 PM
Then don’t buy it! Don’t get boggled down with shipping look at the total price! You are completely wrong! YES we are charged over 12% on everything! Including money we don’t get like shipping and taxes! If I list something for $200 with free shipping my fees are over 12% plus the taxes plus the $.30 fee on every purchase. If I list the same item for $100 + $100 shipping the fees are still the same. Some sellers put all the fees in the item price, some put all the fees in shipping price and some divide them into both! eBay does not dictate what a seller can charge for their shipping, time, supplies etc! Most sellers buy labels through eBay so eBay sees what the labels cost anyway! Shipping is crazy expensive. No one is forcing you to buy anything you do not want! Why don’t you just type in what you want, sort from least expensive and start there. I guarantee that cash register is way more than $35 to ship USPS right now! Unless it is lightweight and small there’s no way! Even if it was, which I doubt the seller can price his/her items however they see fit.
