Order cancelations take 3-5 days?

I requested that an order be canceled after I paid for it, and the seller agreed to cancel it, but told me that because of the new ebay managed payments it will take 3-5 days for the money to be processed before he can cancel the order and refund me, is this true? I have no problem waiting if that's the case, but wanted to verify first.

The short answer is: yes, it does take that long (sometimes longer). The long answer is: when you place an order, the funds are "processing" and unavailable to the seller until they post to their bank account, which takes at least 3-5 days. When a seller agrees to cancel an order, the funds for the cancellation are taken directly out of their bank account, so your seller is allowing time for the actual funds that you used to purchase the item to become available.
