My business has many of one item -- a single one of these could ship in a normal UPS/FEDEX shipment.
However, if a buyer were to send an offer for (example) 50 of the item, it would probably be best to ship on a pallet. Is there any option that would allow this dynamically?
Somewhat paradoxically -- if you happen to know -- how do you set up shipping in the listing to calculate shipping 'PER ITEM' (instead of combining the weight into one package)? We had a listing in which we sold 3x of the item, and it just made it 30 lbs instead of 3x 10 lb shipments. We had to take a hit for shipping costs.

First question - assuming you don't get offers like that very often, and that when they do come through you're in communication with the buyer - you can just set up a separate listing for them with 50 units and freight shipping.
Second question - within your shipping preferences you can set it up to combine shipping or not combine shipping, but it's a setting at the global (account) level, not selected at the listing level. In other words - it applies to one listing, it applies to all of them.
If you want to combine on most of your listings, but not all then the way to get around it is to use flat rate shipping on the listings with larger items. You can set up rate tables so different zones are charged different flat rates.

Also on the first question - if you don't have immediate payment set up or if you send a private offer, you may be able to invoice the buyer for freight shipping before they pay. It depends on several settings so I'm not going to get too detailed on this.

Thanks for the answers. I have some similar situations so will consider and decide what works best.
