Just sold my 1st golf club after April 3rd and was shocked at the price with USPS. I started looking around and discovered that after that date the CRAPPY USPS adds a 15.00 surcharge on top of the regular price resulting in me losing money on the sale. I was unaware of this change. What do I do now ? I have sold a lot of golf clubs in season. I can find very expensive clubs for very little money from time to time. I just ended all of my golf club listings. Seems all of the news these days is bad news. I used to input 6x4x length as the dim shipping calculations. It is a triangular box. Since I will have to use UPS or FEDEx now and of course need a new box. Please help out if you can. Thanks in advance

Sellers need to keep themselves aware of updates and shipping charge increases.
You did the right thing in following through on the first sale even though you lost money. Now that you're aware, you can adjust your shipping charges and/or find a shipper with better prices.

As long as you have the correct dimensions on the listing form, the buyer will see a shipping price with the USPS surcharge. However, that price is high enough to scare away many buyers.
I changed up my shipping for items with a long length to UPS Ground since that's where I'm currently getting the most competitive rates.

As announced October 2021, this was part of the January 2022 price changes but given a delayed application date of April 3, 2022.
There is a new “nonstandard fee” for packages that must be sorted manually by the USPS when the dimensions of the package exceed sortation requirements.
Packages with length over 22 inches will incur a $4.00 surcharge
Packages with length over 30 inches will incur a $15.00 surcharge
Packages over 2 cubic feet will incur a $15.00 surcharge.
There is a $1.50 "noncompliance fee" for packages that are greater than one cubic foot or have a box length greater than 22 inches if the customer did not provide dimensions or provided inaccurate dimensions inside the online postage provider.
Yes, USPS will stack these surcharges where applicable. (Ex: over 22" and over 2 cubic feet and seller put wrong dimensions in the online label form - surcharge would be $4.00 + $15.00 + $1.50 for a total of $20.50)
Yes, these surcharges apply to the Priority branded triangular tube boxes.
No, the surcharge does not apply to the recently discontinued Large Flat Rate Board Game Box if you have any left in stock.
No, the surcharge does not apply to Media Mail.

Thank you for a great reply full of useful information ! A lot of folks just spout opinions. I was wondering if it affected Media mail. 22 inches is 2 shy of a foot. If the package is only 23x6x1 it still gets a 4.00 surcharge. Small cubic inches but 1 inch over length. I think this is going to catch a lot of sellers off guard.

There are more price changes coming @onlythebest4_u. January changes announced in October and July changes announced in April.
The proposed July 10 changes were announced last week.
Pages 150-152 of this document show the proposed Media Mail increases for July.
Flats are also going up, as are letter stamps, postcard stamps, insurance, PO boxes, and more.
According to pg 173 it looks like the base $50 insurance included with Priority shipments is increasing to $100.
