When I expect the packed weight of an item to be less than 16 oz, I usually list it with "Standard Shipping" as the only option, and expect to ship it with USPS First Class. In the past, these listings have always defaulted to First Class in the shipping tool. However, I'm now seeing Priority Mail as "Buyer Selected", and I have to change it to First Class. As shown in the attached screenshot, the same screen is showing Standard Shipping as the selected service on the left side. The order details page also shows Standard Shipping.
Yes, I can simply change the selection to First Class and print the label, but it gives the impression that I'm giving the customer a downgrade, when I'm not. Hopefully eBay is not showing anything to the customer indicating that Standard Shipping means Priority Mail. Anybody else seeing this problem?

Just ship it priority, that is what they paid for.

No it's not. I'm printing labels right now and am getting the same issue as the OP, even if they paid for standard shipping.
I'm also noticing that the shipping price that the buyer is being charged is ending up a touch below the actual cost. I use calculated shipping with a 75-cent handling fee, so I only end up paying more for shipping if I made a mistake with the listed weight of the package. Right now, I'm paying slightly more on every package I'm printing postage for today. Additionally, the dimensions that I put in to each listing have all been replaced with 1" x 1" x 1". And I definitely didn't ever input those dimensions.

The same situation has been posted by a few other sellers lately. As far as I know, the buyer does not see any mention of Priority, they just see your generic standard shipping service. I don't know why ebay changed the label default but I would just change it to first class.

No they wouldn't have paid for Priority. The op is using the generic standard shipping choice and a flat rate so the buyer isn't being given that choice. I think that the new labels are just defaulting to Priority when a seller uses a generic shipping service...it has nothing to do with what the buyer choose because that choice wasn't even there.

Maybe, I don't recognize it because I print labels with PayPal. I was dealing with glitches with eBay labels some years ago and never went back. All my listings except Media have free shipping and I don't often run into any problems.
