Hi I'm a new seller. I'm planning to ship my items using First class shipping. Do i need to add the dimensions of the poly mailer?

Yes, First Class goes by weight but also there is a limit on size as with all USPS packages.

No ... if you are shipping in a poly mailer, you will be well within the maximum size limits as mentioned by the poster above. I never enter in the dimensions of a first class package.

If the listing frm asks for dimensions, then you must enter something. It's OK to just estimate the dimensions of any package that is within the allowed limits. In the case of online First Class package service, the USPS says that is for "A mailpiece that does not exceed 22 inches in length, or 18 inches in width, or 15 inches in thickness." So you're OK unless you're sending a truly enormous envelope.

Not once since I have been selling have I done anything with size/dimensions.
I just use ebay shipping labels, clicked and shipped!

I have always specified dimensions for my first class packages, even polymailers.
I understand that the 2019 postage increase will use zoned pricing for first class packages, so if they ever go to dimensional pricing, I won't need to make any changes.

On large heavy items I always use calculated shipping. That will require you to package the item (I don't tape it closed) , measure it and weigh it. Anything over 16 ounces has to go Priority, and cost will depend on distance from your zip code. If you charge a flat rate you will sometimes have to pay a significant part of the shipping.

I'm sorry, but this is incorrect:

There are other options like media mail (books, DVDs, etc) and parcel select (sometimes significant savings). And there are also other shippers like UPS and Fed Ex.
