Hi fellow Ebay Sellers,
I would like to get your advice on which shipping option is the best/most requested from buyers, UPS or Fedex? I am considering to add one or both options to my listings but I wasn't sure which one is more dependable on getting packages to buyers on time and in one piece. I've 3 issues with USPS requarding late packages, lost packages and damaged packages/items in the last 3 weeks. Is there a survey that can be completed by buyers to see you what their preferences are. Thank you for your advice and time to advize and for reading this.

UPS/FedEx: Guess as long as you understand that final shipping cost is not billed till later and any shipping shown on eBay or even their web site is an estimate subject to additional charges.
Opinion, of the 2 asked about, I would stick with UPS and only when shipping larger heavy items. I would offer both USPS and UPS and let the buyer make their choice. Just be sure that all the correct information is entered in the shipping calculator.

Sounds like you may not be packaging items sufficiently if you are getting damaged and lost items. I have been shipping for 30+ years and probably over 100,000 items with the USPS and have only had 1 item ever lost or damaged. Going with any carrier will get you the same results. How well you package an item really is important on several levels. Having to deal with claims, refunds, lost revenue, and disappointed customers. Examine this area of your business to see if you can make any improvements. I see you sell a lot of books. Many sellers assume they can throw a book in anything and it will get there in one piece.(Not saying that you do! 🙂 ) Just a couple of suggestions: #1. Buy proper packaging supplies - new. There are many large packaging supply houses on and off eBay. I buy padded envelopes in various sizes by the case(250). These are high-quality Kraft bubble envelopes. Buying by the case, they end up 10-20¢ a piece. Mailing an item in re-used packaging is a no-no if you want to give a good appearance and get repeat business. I don't care what anyone says. #2. Extra labeling. I buy fluorescent labels(1x4) that state FRAGILE, DO NOT BEND, SIGNATURE CONF, etc. By placing these on both sides of a package you are making your package more visible in the mail stream and to the clerks & carriers. Even if something that I am mailing is NOT fragile, I still place the FRAGILE stick on it. #3. Use quality packaging tape. #4. Use half-sheet labels. I have seen labels on items received in poor condition. Some are printed so small I could not even read the address. Printer ink running out, etc. I place a clear 4" wide tape strip over half the bar code and complete mailing address. This protects against being accidentally smudged, torn, or ripped by humans and sorting machines. If you have ordered anything from Amazon, this is what customers expect from eBay sellers. Amazon has set the standard. These are only some of how I ship and my suggestions. My feedback from my customers states great packaging or shipping. Some may work for you or maybe none of them apply. Please have a great day!

I use Fed Ex Express 2 Day which has been extremely reliable and fast. If you buy the labels on ebay you get monster discounts for this excellent service.

Thank you for informative response, I have been selling on Ebay for 19 yrs and I've never had items or packaging get damaged like two package in the last two weeks or had one not scanned as accepted in a week. I do take how items are packed and labled with fragile stickers with necessary on all sides of the package (I also leave a message in the USPS pick-up request form) if items are fragile) so the carrier will know prior to picking it up. Thank you.
