I sold a vintage booklet with no advertising (book of photos from a World's Fair) and listed it with economy shipping (media mail). The buyer paid $2.75 for shipping. Now when I go to print the label, the lowest rate that comes up is First Class shipping for $4.18. Does this booklet not qualify for media mail?

I've read on these forums that listing in certain categories blocks media mail from being an option when you go to buy the label on ebay (can't personally confirm whether or not this is true). You can definitely just go buy the label in paypal or 'in-store' though, media mail doesn't get a 'commercial' discount.

You can only print Media Mail labels for items sold in the books or media categories. If you listed in collectibles (which was a far better choice, I promise you), or any other category you can't. It's been that way for a little while now. Ebay is trying (in their own lovingly ham-fisted way) to stop Media Mail abuse.
You can print directly through Paypal, or through Pirateship.

If the booklet has at least 8 pages, then it qualifies for MM. If you listed in a category that eBay has excluded from MM labels (such as collectibles), then you can purchase your MM postage either at the PO (same price) or through PayPal at

Just print the label and take the loss on shipping don't contact the buyer about making a mistake. I've made mistakes like this before.

You should be able to use media mail by purchasing your label directly through USPS. However, I would advise sending it First Class since Media Mail is often slower than a fence post.
