Max Number of Packages in an Order Shipment (5)

Just wanted to let fellow eBay sellers know that if you have to ship an order in multiple packages, eBay will only print out 5 lables. Shipping additional packages will be paid out of pocket.

Well this is the first I've heard that one order is allowed to be shipped using multiple packages, so thanks for that info....

When I tried to print more than five shipping labels , I received an error message: "Something went wrong and we were not able to generate the label".

By the way, when I receive a response to my posting, is there a way to receive a notification by email. I do not get any.

To obtain an additional shipping label, go to the Shipping Labels page and click Actions and select Print  Another Label for one shipping label already printed for the order.

Assume that you are going to ship 3 packages each of which is 5 pounds and 10"x5"x3". In this case the default values used become 15 pounds and  10"x5"x3".  Therefore the weight must be changed to 5 pounds.

If all the items are shipped in one larger package, 15 pounds is fine, but the volume must be (10"x5"x3") x 3.

Reprint Label just print again the shipping label already printed.

The OP's point is that you can only do this 4 times.  It's not possible to purchase 6 labels for one order through eBay.

Well, in a way all labels are paid out of pocket.

If you need more than 5 labels you can purchase more through PayPal at www.PayPal.com'shipnow . They charge the same prices as eBay, except that Top Rated Sellers won't get the 3% discount that eBay gives them for Priority Mail postage.

Shipnow does not have FedEx anymore. This is ridiculous, customer purchased 8x 50lb items, and ebay calculated the shipping way to low as if it was one box and will only let me ship 5x boxes. The total if it would allow me to print more than 5 labels would be $308, ebay calculated $206.35 but now I have to pay an extra $66 to use another carrier for the remaining boxes?

A situation like this is a good reason to look at the following options @sleepybeartech and see which ones might work best for you in the future:

- limit the number of items you make available at once (instead of listing 8 you could have listed 4 or 5, then increased quantity after you sold some)

- make sure you don't have combined shipping rules set up (in your case you have a rule set up to combine shipping by weight and applied it to that listing)

- go to your buyer management page and limit the number of items 1 buyer can purchase in a 10 day period

Sounds logical, but; 1: I cannot edit my calculated shipping rule,  no edit link. 2: Ebay developers and managers should have the ability to determine that the imposed limit on shipping labels per order could be equal or greater than the quantity of items ordered.  We all know this is to limit selling outside of ebay, and using the discount shipping in ebay.

The calculated shipping rule can be applied at the listing level (or if you are using business policies, at the business policy level). That means you can apply it to some listings but not others. You had the listing set up to combine shipping, but you could have disabled that rule. Looks like you're sold out now, but if you have to set up another listing in the future and need help figuring out that setting @sleepybeartech I suggest creating a new discussion thread on this forum (mods tend to lock old ones) and experienced sellers here will help you set up your listing.
