Marking the item as shipped

Hello.  How do I mark an item shipped after they paid for it and they lived close by and decided to pick it up.  I refunded their shipping cost but now it does not think I shipped the item.  How do I fix this?

You can mark it shipped, but you'll still be dinged for late shipping, with no tracking.

Have a great day.

On this page find the order, then under the actions menu select 'mark as shipped'.

That's not correct. The only way to get a late shipment when there is no tracking is if the buyer initiates it.

When the buyer goes to leave feedback,  ebay will ask them if the package arrived by xxdate (whatever the eta was).   If the buyer answers that the item had not arrived by that date, the seller will receive a late shipment ding. If the buyer ignores the question or says that the item arrived on time, it won't be considered a late shipment.

PJ is correct. It will not affect late shipping stats.

It will affect 'tracking uploaded on time and validated' stats, but one hit on that metric shouldn't break anybody's account, and it'll age off after 3 months.

The seller is vulnerable to an item not received claim, but if the buyer is honest then that won't matter.

eBay's recommendation would be to cancel the sale and relist as local pickup only then have the buyer repurchase before making the exchange. Of course it's entirely at the seller's discretion if they want to go through all that and risk losing the  sale, or just take the risk that the buyer's honest like the OP did. Nothing wrong with that at all (I've done it myself).

Have they changed it the last 5 or 6 years?

When I was selling seeds, I just shipped in a PWE and I got hit with late shipping, until I started using tracking.

Have a great day.
