Hi,
New here and this is my first post. I sold an item and mailed it out two days ago with USPS. When I tried to track it on their website and through the app on my phone, all it states is the following; "shipping label created." It also shows the date and time the label was created. There is nothing in the tracking log that states where the package is nor does it even state the package was received by USPS. I swear I saw the postal worker click on the box. I don't know how this happened, I have no idea what to do. This is a pretty pricey item that I sold and I'm worried I'm going to take a huge loss. The buyer might receive it, claim they didn't, then take their PayPal payment back. Any help? Thanks!

Did you by chance insure this pricey item? Because of Covid-19, your local post office may not be updating their Tracking information. Don't dispair, give the package a few more days in-transit, when the package nears it destination, you should see updates.

Hopefully, it will get scanned when it reaches a distribution center. Hope it was insured.

Though sometimes a delivered package does not get a delivery scan, it is pretty rare except for APO addresses.
Your package will get a scan or two along the way. Just be patient.

Okay, then he did, and it's in the system. Even if he didn't, there are enough automated scanners along the way that one of them is going to log it correctly, probably sooner rather than later. Don't sweat it.
In fact, if you're checking its tracking on usps.com anyway, look on the bottom of its tracking results page and you will see an option for signing up to get tracking updates, either as texts or emails. Sign up for either one, and you'll get an immediate heads-up notification whenever the package is next seen along the way, and when it's delivered.

-Did you purchase the label through eBay?
-Was the tracking number automatically uploaded to the Sold file after the label was generated?

If after a few more days the tracking still has not updated, go the USPS website and fill out a missing mail form. There is a link on the website. You should get a response within 24 hours, and generally the tracking will also suddenly get updated.
Good luck!

Sign up for text notifications on the tracking number. Sometimes the tracking is there it just doesn't show on-line and this jogs the system . Also if it doesn't file a missing mail report as soon as it will allow you to.

It's the system. Fewer workers to maintain it and literally I have NEVER seen so many packages. Not even after cyber monday sales. The scanners and new system was to be rolled out back in march but has been delayed.

I just hope the buyers are well aware of that.

Yeah, it seams like all most people did during the shut down was order stuff on-line. Literally there has only been a handfull of days these past few months that my Jeep wasn't packed to the ceiling heading out from the Post Office. Many days the clerks the Postmaster and even a new sub (finished her training in Columbus but not on our routes yet), have had to run packages, and sometimes I have run packages after work on the way home.
I look for Monday to not be fun. Monday is our heavyest day and Sat. is no slouch. I know Amazon will deliver to our office today even though there isn't going to be any trucks from USPS, UPS or FedEx. ETA from 3am to 8am, The Postmaster was not thrilled.
