MAJOR LATE AND LOST ISSUES WITH USPS

I've had all my USPS packages the past week not have any movement on them at all and now they are beyond the delivery date with ebay. In all cases they receive an origin scan, but never depart the facility. I've had issues with my medications and personal mail being lost lately as well, is this a local thing or are you guys experiencing major issues with the postal service? After all these refunds I'm considering just not using them as a carrier.

MAJOR LATE AND LOST ISSUES WITH USPS

I've honestly had to do a few things:

-Change my service time to only being 1-2 days a week to have a buffer

-Using the Economy shipping option even if I know I'm shipping with a faster speed

-Having a template email for packages that don't arrive within a week

I get the frustration, heck, I have 2 items that I bought at the end of Nov:

-Item paid for 11/29, tracking info added 12/3, and no update since there (going from FL-PA) - est delivery was 12/8

-Item paid for 11/29, tracking info added 11/30, and delivered 12/10 - (first class from TX-PA) - USPS only shows the day the tracking was created, and the day it arrived in my local PO

I also have outgoing items that were picked up on 12/2 and did not leave our hub (I'm maybe 45 min from Philly) for 5 days for a Priority Mail package to Ohio.

Ebay just has to push the estimated delivery date out further (so that if it arrives early, it's a bonus), or just extend the time before INRs can be filed.

Well eBay hasn't exactly extended the time before an INR could be filed, BUT they have lengthened the time a seller has to respond, which should give a seller time to work the Missing Mail process and perhaps jar the package free.  See link.

Helping Buyers Understand Shipping Delays

Philly hub is apparently a mess!  Package from WILLINGBORO, NJ went to DC (CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD)  first and then came north.  Looks like they routed around a clogged Philly Hub to me.

What happened to The Game?  'That place up north' should have forfeited rather than this malarkey!

MAJOR LATE AND LOST ISSUES WITH USPS

I am one of those doing what I can to help myself with the situation and if this site was free to use I would have less of a problem with that. However it is not so maybe eBay should actually do something for once to help out their customers which in fact are mostly the sellers. The buyers are the customers to the sellers. I would imagine the INR cases and the scamming as a result of it have increase the workload on eBay support at least when you can get ahold of them.

I do not consider any seller who puts thing on hold to be a quitter or a whiner they just have realistic expectations of what a service provider should be doing to help with this situation and for eBay that has been very little. Nor do I consider those sellers who do not communicate to be stupid or less smart than those who do. When a branch falls and takes down the power I do not expect the power company to tell me to just go out and hook the wires backup although I am capable of doing that.

Yes, but how far did they get?

Four of the ten I've shipped in the past five days have already been delivered.

GD program

eBay pays the $5 for the voucher, but some buyers are still unhappy with the seller because the item did not arrive when expected.

some buyers choose the "return the item" option because it did not arrive when expected. The buyer is unhappy with the seller.  If a return item had free shipping, the seller eats the loss.

If the seller got a scan within the listed handling time any bad feedback can be removed.  If the seller presented the item to the carrier within their handling time, but did not stand in line to get that scan (which some places are currently refusing to do) the seller is not covered for the late delivery feedback, or $$$ loss.

I have done everything that I can to ensure GD does not show on my listings.

@gsmith1977

If it was the $122 laptop I vote for the goldguy suggestion to attempt to "intercept" the package.

It may, or may not be successful at this time, but my money would be on the odds being better than the buyer returning it. Most people are good, but others can look you right in the eye, and lie to you. Throw in the internet, and you chances are even less of having a good outcome.

You pay to get it back either way.

My problem is not with how many of the packages that I have shipped have been delivered.  Problem is with how many have not been delivered.

eBay is a side hustle. I do not need the money, but do not need to lose money.

Accounts are on "time away".  With only about 30% of my items delivered in the estimated time, some no scans in days after the regional facility scan, I will monitor the tracking, and leave them on vacay.

MAJOR LATE AND LOST ISSUES WITH USPS

I believe that the ebay estimated delivery dates are driven from the estimated delivery dates provided by USPS.  The USPS.com home page has the red ALERT banner right at the top of the page that says items are delayed.  But when you print a Priority Mail label for an item going from NY to California it shows 3-Day Delivery.  If you go to the calculate postage page and plug in zip codes from/to it will show 2, 3, or 4 day delivery.  And there is no way that any package is getting that service right now.

I think it's USPS delivery date data that is driving the expected delivery dates shown on ebay orders.

I don't think ebay comes up with those delivery dates on their own.

There's an old axiom that good business people follow:

Say what you do, and then do what you say.

In other words if you say that you will deliver in 3 days, then go out and do it.

If the best you can do is deliver in 10 days, then 10 days is what you should have been saying.

Of course the error in my logic is that USPS is run by good business people.

Same in NJ it's a mess. Every day my packages are passing the estimated delivery dates.  I have buyers being nasty about late shipping. Ebay's note on tracking is not worth anything.
