Items Returned as Undeliverable by USPS - unclaimed and refused

I just had two packages returned to me after months of them being sent out.

Both were sent priority mail and both were sent to a PO Box.
One was sent in May and one was sent in June.
Buyer paid for postage however one package exceeded the postage she paid as it was heavier.
Package 1: Postage $7.45 and package 2 (box): Postage $11.75

I contacted the buyer right away via email and ebay stating that the items were retunred with the notes of unclaimed and refused.  (took pictures of both packages with the post office stickers on them)
She can also check the tracking number to see what happened. I am still calling her post office on tues to find out what's going on.

She stated

"See i have not refused or unclaimed. And actually have been to the post office and had none"

what should I do in this case? resend the items and be out the postage since she's not admitting there was an issue in May and June?

In the end I made nothing on this deal as the items are the same amount as the postage.

What I've learned form this is that I do not want to send items to a PO Box.

Thank you.

You don't do anything unless your buyer opens an INR.

What does the online tracking info say?

One thing I might do is to ask her to confirm what her address is...she might not have the correct address on eBay.

I wouldn’t stop shipping to po boxes because of one incident.  In most cases they are safer because they are in a locked box.

You kept your part of the bargain in shipping the items. You can't control the post office. Don't you wonder where they have been all these months? They may have toured the country. It does happen. Or were sitting at her post office. I feel confident the post office can't resolve this for you at this point but maybe can shed some light as to why they were refused/returned to sender. Maybe she never went to pick them up in a timely manner.

OP, I suggest you stop communicating through emails. It can come back to bite you. Go through your messages in your My eBay account and the same goes for paypal. Never do business through emails. The messages are your records and may end up being very helpful some day and  don't get into a back and forth with the buyer. If the buyer still wants the items, she should pay the additional shipping. Otherwise refund her money and re-list. But communicate through messages on ebay. Always.

There is nothing wrong with shipping to a PO Box.

This sounds like they do not pick up their mail regularly.  Serously I have customers that do not empty their mailbox for a month or more. At least with a PO Box the package was held safely in the PO.

If they want their package they have to pay for it to be reshipped.
