I recently purchased an item from a seller on ebay on March 27. It was purchased on a Friday. Two days later I messaged the seller to cancel my order. Seller did not reply. The following Monday comes and I get a message that my order has been shipped. I was watching the tracking history with the tracking number that was provided to me. It showed that the shipping label was created on March 28 and was shipped on March 30. On April 3 the tracking just went into a limbo with the status "in transit to next facility", no other status updates after that. It wasn't until a couple days later while checking my ebay order details that I found there was a drop down tab with another tracking number that was also assigned to my order. The second tracking showed a shipment date beginning of April 6. Two days later (April 8th) my order shows up but no one was home to sign for it so USPS left a notice. I didn't go pick up the package from USPS so the next day (April 9) I went online and requested USPS to return the package to the sender. I figured I might as well return it because I requested to cancel my order before with no response from the seller. I received a confirmation email from USPS that the package would be returned to the sender on April 10. Now it has been 11 days after the return and I have not received any refunds. I messaged the seller twice and attached the confirmation from USPS as well on my second attempt. Has anyone in the eBay community ran into a similar situation as mines? I would appreciate any advise as to what steps to take next. There doesn't seem to be an option to open any sort of case. Thanks in advance.

There's nothing more to wait for. Your transaction is complete. eBay policy says:
Buyer obligations
Generally, the buyer is responsible for accepting the item when it arrives. If the buyer refuses delivery, their claim is not eligible for the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

Thanks for the replies. Regardless if the buyer protection is in effect or not, the seller would receive their item back anyways. Shouldn't the buyer get their refund for the item since the seller still gets their item back? No fees refunds but there should be a refund for the item I purchased in this case?

Absolutely. You must get the last laugh on your keep-the-item-and-the-money seller. File a chargeback with your card issuer using the standard Goods returned Credit not issued reason, and provide the tracking number. Your seller will pay the full refund, lose all eBay and PayPal fees (puts them in the negative), plus pay a $20 chargeback settlement fine (which PayPal is currently waiving).
