Item shipped but never delivered, now INR case

I sold and shipped an item last month. Soon after I had shipped the item, the buyer told me the address he gave was wrong and that he wished for me to change it. I simply told him that I could not, as the item had already shipped, and took no further action.

Unfortunately the tracking via USPS hasn't updated since Feb 1st; the latest update says "Moving Through Network, In Transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late". When I enter the tracking number into the "Where is my package" search on USPS, it says "The address provided is the location of a third-party reshipper. Items addressed to a third-party reshipper are not eligible for further inquiry. For further assistance with this issue, please contact the third-party reshipper."

The address I shipped to appears to be a reshipping service in Miami, although I'm not sure exactly which one.

This morning, the buyer filed an INR case. Because the tracking doesn't say that anything got delivered, the buyer seems poised to win the case. Is there anything I can do to figure out what happened to the package? Before I issue a refund, it would be nice to know that the package actually was lost, and that it's not just late, or that there was an error with tracking scans.

Thank you for any advice.

You can go to the USPS.com web site and file a tracking request.  Some USPS shipping includes some insurance so that may cover some or all of it.   But, unless it says delivered, you will be refunding.

Look up the eBay buyer country in Feedbacks....to find out where your package is going 'freight forward'.

Package usually takes another week or so to get to the buyer from Miami.

Unfortunately, package...if it does not get scanned as 'delivered' in Miami they can request a refund.

Package is not lost...it did not get a scanned 'delivered' in Miami yet or maybe never will.

I have a number of 'Moving through network...' items that are still open from last year but buyers received their items per positive feedbacks.

Sounds like your buyer is playing you...address is 'wrong'...nope...check his country where the eBay ID is from.

If no claim is open yet...tell buyer what country the package is going to and you know it is going 'freight forward' and expect the package to take another week or so.
