Here’s a new one. I shipped out a package to the buyer’s address on file with eBay. USPS tracking shows package was forwarded and showed delivered in another zip code.
Buyer opens a claim of non receipt and I upload tracking showing package was delivered with a note to the buyer asking him if he recently moved because it looks like your package was forwarded per tracking. The buyer escalated the case and eBay ruled in the buyers favor indicating It was delivered to the address on eBay’s records. The buyer said he was a victim of mail forwarding fraud. I appealed the case and eBay still wouldn’t budge because ebay’s policy says it was the seller’s responsibility to send package to and delivered at the buyers address on file.
My gut tells me it was an ex that lived with buyer and when they moved out they had the mail forwarded to their new address. My guess is you need some kind of ID that you lived at a address before the post office will forward your mail.

The buyer didn’t have it forwarded to freight forwarded.
Yeah, your buyer probably lied when they said they were the victim of mail fraud forwarding. That's why I suggested getting the letter from USPS confirming the buyer filed for mail forwarding. You might also report them for mail fraud so you have more info to appeal.

I'm left scratching my head, that sounds like a really bad loophole in the MBG. I know freight forwarders disqualify MBG rights... I feel like because forwarding mail doesn't lead to a delivery or attempted delivery to the primary address, and by-passes to the secondary address, that may skirt the MBG exclusions but... it just should automatically disqualify.
When I set up mailforwarding for my old PO Box, it wasnt just any mail addressed to the PO Box got forwarded, it was any mail in MY NAME addressed to the PO box got forwarded... so whatever name and address combo they used is what qualified the package for forwarding... and YES i had to show photo ID to do this myself...
This just sounds all around scummy and bogus and like a part of the MBG EBay needs to fix... a part of the MBG that could be abused and exploited (the whole MBG can be abused and exploited) but this portion seems like it has no good reason to remain standing... no actual useful purpose or application in terms of MBG in this case... maybe im wrong

When the buyer has the package forwarded, it voids their MBG coverage. Does the tracking give specifics on forwarding? If not, go to your local PO and ask them for a letter that says the buyer (not the sender) had the package forwarded. Then contact eBay CS and file an appeal using that document @theteamsetguy.

No, it's our responsibility to ship to the address they gave when they paid.
If tracking showed it was forwarded to another address, that should have voided their MBG.
