Hello! This adds onto my former post, but now a new issue has arisen.
I sent an item out over a month ago and it had a "NO ACCESS". It's remained "In Transit" and I thought it would eventually get sent back to me because it could not be delivered. I had talked to the local USPS and contacted the buyer on the situation, but they buyer never reached out, which I thought was strange.
I contacted USPS, and long story short, the item was delivered way back on the second attempt, but USPS did not scan at the final delivery. I asked if they would update the tracking, but they said they could not because the item was no longer in their possession... what do I do now? On Ebay the item is still considered "In transit", and the buyer hasn't tried to say it wasn't delivered (which is good, but the option will still be open to them). Do I leave things as they are? Do I see if Ebay will mark the item delivered if I reach out to them or will I cause more problems for myself?
Thanks for your advice in advance!

If it's been over a month the buyer's time is up to file a claim on eBay. Nothing to stop them from filing with PayPal or their credit card, but that's a danger you always face. I wouldn't do anything until if/when something happens.
If anything, I'd contact the PO again and see if they'll confirm what they told you in writing. Just in case.

Ebay has no idea if it has been delivered or not, so no, they will not change it to delivered.
As long as you don't hear from the buyer, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you! It's good to know that the the period is up for the buyer to file a claim, at least on Ebay's side. Hopefully the person will be honest, but I'll save and prepare the documents I have just in case.

Okay, thank you!
I wasn't sure if eBay would automatically follow up at some point, but it seems they don't get involved unless someone files or talks to them.

If the buyer ever claims that they didn't receive the package, and you insured it or shipped by Priority Mail with included insurance, you can file an insurance claim for loss since the tracking doesn't show delivery.

Cross your fingers the buyer doesn't file an INR with PayPal or CC since you have no proof of delivery. On Ebay the item is still considered "In transit", and the buyer hasn't tried to say it wasn't delivered (which is good, but the option will still be open to them). Buyer has up to 30-days from the last date of eBay's "expected delivery date" (EDD) to file an INR claim with eBay under its MG guarantee. Do I leave things as they are? YES!!!! Do I see if Ebay will mark the item delivered NO! if I reach out to them or will I cause more problems for myself? Don't think you will cause problems for yourself with eBay. What you do NOT want to do is to make the buyer 'aware' that your back side is hanging out there, because you have no proof of delivery. They figure that out and can file to get their money back. This is why others have said, let sleeping dogs lie.

Not sure what "no access" means, but if that was something that the USPS put on its tracking then you might be safe. When an item is marked "Delivery Attempted" eBay considers the item delivered and the Seller Protections (as thin as they are) kick in. Seller is responsible to get the item to the buyer and a 'delivery attempted' means package was defacto delivered. The buyer is responsible to have and accessible and safe location for packages to be delivered to. So eBay considers a delivery attempt as equal to delivered and seller is off the hook. I had something like this happen to me the other day. Two different packages were marked 'out for delivery' in the early AM. One package was scanned & delivered that day and the second one's tracking showed, "Delivery Attempted". So now the item could go missing, get stolen or misdelivered and I would "eat" the loss because eBay would see that tracking showed "delivery attempted" and would assume I had some problem on my end. So hopefully this shows a bit about how things work?
Hope it helps!

Second on the file a USPS claim. I've done that before, not only did they refund the value but the postage too. I had one never get scanned delivered a few years ago and got no reply from the buyer so I filed and got paid for it.
Then weeks later got positive feedback and apparently it was delivered after all. Go figure. I don't feel bad about it because if the buyer had wanted to they could have claimed they didn't get it and I would have been the one out money.

Just don't contact the buyer and give them any ideas. I have received a number of packages that never showed delivered.
