Item delayed- seller shipped non media by media mail

I purchased an item last week from a seller on eBay. The seller shipped out the item. The tracking now has been showing in transit, arriving late since August 11, and it appears it didn’t even leave the sellers post office. 

what I did noticed is it could be because he shipped a diecast car (that was the item) by Media Mail. I am under the impression that it’s only printed materials such as books that can be shipped by that method, so that may have something to do with the delay. Can anyone give insight on this? 9449008205498994723765

I'm a mail carrier (going on 22 years) and an eBayer going on 18 years.  I sell mainly media. Media Mail isn't just printed materials. You can ship all music formats (records to CD's) and DVD, VHS, Reel to Reel videos also. BUT you are correct that a die-cast car does not qualify for Media Mail.

There is a good chance that the item was returned to the sender or notice was left for them to come in and collect it.

Tracking doesn’t show it was returned or a note was left. I also got another package with diecast cars in it that was also shipped media Mail fine, I guess that one slipped through.

Have you considered filing an "Item not received"  claim?

There is very little profit in selling diecast cars individually.

Your seller knows better, just shipping cheap to increase profit/sales.

You should report their abuse and put them on your BBL.

The diecast car market is absolutely saturated, they are doing this to get an edge.

Report the sender to their personal Post Office. All their Media Mail packages will be inspected.
