When you select a location for an item search why can you not set a location such as UK as your default preference instead of it keep going back to a default of everywhere?

There is no way to set this permanently. There are customizable search options (the three bars in the top right) but location is not one of the options. 

This is a workaround for the US but it should apply to the UK site too:
