So I have an item that was shipped international (from the U.S.) where the buyer has confirmed delivery, however, the shipping status still reflects " In Transit to Destination". How do I go about getting the shipping status updated to delivered in order to get paid?

I had one do that right before Christmas, but it was a domestic shipment. I just emailed USPS and asked them to investigate and if they could verify delivery, to please update the tracking to reflect that. I never received a response from them, but a few days later, the status did update and show delivered. I doubt they will be of much help on an international shipment though. Some countries postal systems aren't set up to be compatible with USPS tracking and will not show any updates once the package leaves the US.

I figured the USPS wouldn't be too helpful once the package left the U.S. so I didn't even bother, but fortunately, the funds were released despite the shipping status. So all well that ends well . . . thanks for the feedback

Depending on the service you purchased, your tracking could have ended when it left the United States.
For example, if you want tracking to a destination in China, you must purchase something like the Priority Express International or the GXG product ... the (very high) price includes tracking and delivery confirmation inside China. But, if you purchased the First Class Package International Service, you will not get delivery confirmation into China ... tracking stops when it leaves the US border.
But, if the buyer has communicated receipt of the package via eBay messages, I suggest you call eBay customer service and have them look at the eBay message and then manually mark the return as properly delivered.
Edit ... I just noticed you got the refund ... sooooo ... no call is necessary. 🙂
