Is this weird or am i just paranoid?

Sorry if this has been asked and answered a million times, I’m new to ebay. So i won an item on January 6th and a few days later it updated with a tracking number and said “pre shipping info sent. Usps awaits item”. Flash forward to last Saturday (the items last estimated delivery date) and the tracking never updated. So i message the seller and he says he just dropped it off today (the 16th) and apologizes for dropping it off late. It’s now the 19th and it still says pre shipment info sent on the 9th as the last update. Does this seem sketchy or should i just assume the seller is telling the truth and that the item is on its way despite shipping never updating? Again sorry if this is a dumb question i may be overthinking it. Thank you!

your buyer was late in shipping and admitted that....I ship 40 packages a week and many or most do not get scanned for 5-6 days after I drop them off in the chute at the PO

backups galore wth the USPS but it goes thru with barely any scanning

Thanks for the insight, makes me feel less concerned. I plan to give it another week or so and see how it goes.

Just pay attention to this;

"You have 30 days from the estimated delivery date to inform the seller that you didn't receive your item."

I would allow extra time if tracking doesn't change before reporting, due to USPS delays.
