Is there an problem with the Jersey City NJ USPS hub?

Once again I have a package apparently stuck at the Jersey City NJ USPS hub. What is wrong with that facility? I have an item I sold and shipped by media stuck there for a week, this is the third time this year, always at that facility. Anyone else have their packages stuck in NJ?

I didn't need to see this. I just sold an item and it's going to New Jersey. 😞

Stuff going to the East Coast was slow enough for me pre-Covid, now it's like molasses going uphill on a sub-zero day.

Wondering if I should refund now and avoid the rush lol

It's bad in a lot of areas, I am now sending a message on EVERY sale alerting Buyers to expect delays ... 1/2 are getting back to me with a thanks and confirmation they are seeing the same thing on shipments from all over the place.

You probably know I have been pushing eBay to extend the time past the ETA that Buyers can file INRs ... at LEAST by 7 days ... now I think it should be longer.  But of course eBay has NOT taken action BUT, BUT, BUT, they have passed it on to the Shipping Department!!!  Whatever that means ... maybe the messages are being delayed by 10 days going from our eBay Support team to the Shipping Department?!?

Re: Is there an problem with the Jersey City NJ USPS hub?

Sent out a package Nov 30 to NY. Tracking has not updated since it got to NJ on the 2nd. Lately, every time I send my sister a priority package to NY it always gets stuck there and arrives over a week late.

Go to USPS.com and open a missing package case.  Follow the USPS procedures when you have problems as they usually work.  Have a good day!

Same problem in Texas right now. I think it is a system wide issue. USPS says it is due to lack of workers.

Re: Is there an problem with the Jersey City NJ USPS hub?

I had a similar problem with my package being shipped out of GA on 11/30.  On 12/4, the tracking update side the package would be arriving late and in transit.  No scans after 12/4.  I live in OH.

On 12/6, I googled usps shipping problems and came across these sites.   On the "downdetector" site, using my tracking number, the person answering questions, updated me on the status of my package.  The package got moving and was scanned on 12/7 in Akron, OH.  Today, on 12/8 the package was scanned at the downtown Cleveland Facility.  Most likely, I will receive the package tomorrow.

Thumbs up!

Re: Is there an problem with the Jersey City NJ USPS hub?

@titanictarn   One of our local bulk facilities was holding packages 5-7 days ... that means on a Priority mail 2-3 delivery we're already PAST eBay's estimated delivery date and the packages haven't even left the county ...

As for Jersey City ... HAVE YOU EVER BEEN THERE?!?  I have and only because I had to for business ...

Re: Is there an problem with the Jersey City NJ USPS hub?

pfft, Ebay doesn't care because it's not their problem. They're not the ones mailing, shipping and dealing with customers.

Anyway, I just opened three missing mail searches, I've got three packages that were sent out the last week of November that are delayed.  One going to MA, one to CT and one to OH.  They leave Memphis and disappear.  No contact from buyers, just being proactive.

As a buyer (not an Ebay purchase) I have one that looks like this:

Dec 03
In Transit, Arriving Late
Nov 29
11:06 pm
Arrived at USPS Regional Origin Facility
JERSEY CITY NJ NETWORK DISTRIBUTION CENTER
Nov 18
11:24 am
Departed USPS Regional Origin Facility
SPRINGFIELD MA NETWORK DISTRIBUTION CENTER
Nov 17
12:14 pm
Accepted at USPS Regional Origin Facility
BROCKTON MA DISTRIBUTION CENTER
Nov 16
10:36 pm
Arrived at USPS Regional Facility
SPRINGFIELD MA NETWORK DISTRIBUTION CENTER
Nov 16
9:00 pm
Departed USPS Regional Facility
BROCKTON MA DISTRIBUTION CENTER
Nov 13
Pre-Shipment Info Sent to USPS, USPS Awaiting Item

If my packages make it past New Jersey its smooth sailing. But once stuck there, it's like they're stuck in the phantom zone.

Re: Is there an problem with the Jersey City NJ USPS hub?

Things are tough all over...I have 8 items in limbo all around the country. Just close your eyes and forget about it. I gave up worrying about it "mid covid"

I had an item sent from the next town over and it went to Jersey, PA and MA and then back into CT over a course of two weeks 🙂 It actually started to become entertaining.

I'm in a similar situation, I also mailed from the Boston area. Sometimes my packages go to the Nashua NH USPS hub and so far nothing gets lost there, but NJ is always an issue
