Is there a residential Delivery Surcharge when Using Ebay Fed Ex Labels or is it in the price quote

I need to know if I am going to be charged an extra residential surcharge above and beyond what I am quoted on Ebay using their labels for shipping. I called FED EX and they said they did not know becuase it is their corporate account and I need to ask them.

Is there a residential Delivery Surcharge when Using Ebay Fed Ex Labels or is it in the price quote

@vintagecraze50

We have been using FedEx for shipping our larger items that would cost us too much to ship with USPS for over 2 years now. Our experience has been mostly with FedEx ground and has been VERY good. Shipping costs have been as quoted/printed from Ebay labels with the exception of 2 shipments that did have a difference of about $4 that we could not reconcile, otherwise the billed amounts invoice on our Ebay bill have matched ALL our quoted amounts. Furthermore, the tracking with FedEx has been far superior to what you currently get shown on Ebay by USPS for your shipments. You and your buyer pretty much know where your shipment is all along the way until delivery. We have not experience any damaged packages to date. We ship about 45-50 orders per month with FedEx currently.

We have also shipped a few 6-8 orders using FedEx 2 day air and all have arrived on time with no extra charges on our Ebay invoice. With FedEx it is critical that you put accurate measurements and weight in when printing a label. If your package measures 12 1/4 x 12 1/4 x 12, we always input 13 x13 x12. Weight should be input accurately also. If our package is 8 lbs 3 oz, we will input 8 lbs 4 oz just to be sure. So far, everything has worked out fine with no surprises.

One other thing to consider is large packages will likely incur dimensional weight charges. Today we shipped a 19 x 19 x 32 package that weighed 32 1/2 lbs, but because of its size the dimensional weight we will be charged for it will be 70 lbs. So our charges for the dimensional weight were $64 plus change as opposed to the $46 plus change that the Ebay shipping label  showed for the actual 32 1/2 lbs the package weighed. As long as you are aware of that and input the weight as 70 lbs, your label will be correct.

Also, if we know that there are problems at a USPS distribution hub like in the chicago area for example, we will ship with FedEx instead and avoid the problems there. So far it has worked out very well. I hope this helps. Good luck.

tyler@ebay  Can you help me figure out the FED EX issue . I am shipping everything FED EX Express 2 day switching from USPS because of the delays. The rates I am getting from Ebay are great but I am worrying about this residential surcharge and wondering if that is included with Ebay’s Price quotes. Thank you I would really appreciate an answer to this.

It appears that inputting the correct dimensions and weight doesn't help either.  Just sayin'

Yes, I saw that post and for the past week I am trying to figure out if I am going to go into sticker shock when I get this bill from FED EX. UNTIL I KNOW FOR SURE HOW MUCH MY SHIPPING COSTS ARE GOING TO BE i am switching back to USPS Priority Mail. Problem with that’s though is that a week before I switched to Fed Ex I had packages that were stalled and one missing. Geez, this has been one of the most stressful two months since this crazy stuff with USPS. EITHE i am going to get hit with a Fed Ex bill that will make my pass out, or I gotta deal with buyers screaming about their late packages. I spent a lot of time calling PO’s when these packages were stuck. If I knew how to calculate what the heck I am REALLY going to pay for FED EX then I would proceed. There needs to be some disclosure on the shipping pages here about these EXTRA charges and what they are and how much they are going to increase the quote from Ebay.

Sellers need to know what their costs of doing business are really going to be before they switch too another carrier. I cannot know how to price my items to compensate for this. I offer fast and free top rated and I have to keep my status, so I wont switch to a slow as a turtle delivery service, especially now with all these crazy delays. CALLING Fed Ex with a customer service rep was no help at all. They just told me about all their surcharges and I gave them an example from one of my recent shipment. That shipment according to them was going to have another 4 dollars and something added to the cost becuase of the residential surcharge, and then there are other charges, fuel, rural delivery, blah blah and more blah. She said she could not answer my questions regarding buying the label on Ebay because she did not know what their contract or whatever allows then to do as far as these extra charges. I need some answers.

Yes, there is nothing on the shipping page that tells you what you are possibly really going to pay for this service. There is a disclaimer at the bottom that directs you to the FED EX WEBSITE. But where do you find out how Ebay shipping labels with the “discount” are figured into these pages of disclaimers on FED EX. Extremely confusing.

is there anyway you can take it to a local FedEx drop off center and they can weigh it? You did wisely by switching back until somebody gets this FedEx mess straightened out and clarified, that $1k post was frightening wasn't it?

Is there a residential Delivery Surcharge when Using Ebay Fed Ex Labels or is it in the price quote

I went to a Fed Ex official Store office here in St George, Utah. She told me that the ebay discounts are really good and that I would probably get a better rate shipping with them rather than having a FED EX ACCOUNT myself, which I did anyway just in case and to get their free shipping boxes and padded mailers. I have a ton of these mailers sitting here now with me from them. Now, If I can figure out at least a ballpark REAL figure for how much this is really going to cost with the blah surcharges I can relax and proceed with whatever my business plan is currently due to these delays. HELP!

Yes I thought that Fedex  2nd Day Express was a GREAT deal also it was actually cheaper than Fedex Home Delivery, but on my Bill for August when Fedex billed me for the 2nd Day Express. I realize it was to good to be true.  It cost more to ship the item than it's worth. I have opened a claim with ebay-NOT HOLDING MY BREATH.

Thank you so much for such an detailed answer. I was wondering here and there for the last one week due to this residential delivery issue. Because I am running a service based website on e-com business model. I have to deliver some products via residential deliveries.

Now i have found the solution of my problem. And I will implement this way. Thank you
