I have a customer who's package has "been delayed." Of course the post office isn't telling me why or how that has happened. Just "been delayed." I've not had this happen before with shipping to Hawaii. This item was shipped parcel as it was over 2 lbs. I was in the post office the other day and a man there was talking with one of the clerks and was complaining that his overnight package (expensive!) had taken three days and he was told it had been "delayed" but they didn't know why.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem so that I can inform a customer ahead of time that there might be an issue.
Thanks.

If you shipped the package via Parcel Select Ground rather than via Priority Mail, then it could take quite a while because it will travel by ship.

I have shipped lots of stuff to Hawaii. Never had a problem.
If it was only slightly over 2 pounds (you don’t say how much over 2 it was) you should check the rate tables. At that weight Priority is pretty much the same price as Parcel (and a lot quicker) so there really is no reason to use Parcel.
To Hawaii (also Alaska, Puerto Rico and all U S territories) you should avoid not only Parcel but UPS and FedEx as well.
Just a comment on the “overnight” complaint. My post office has a cut off time for overnight. Since I am on the west coast it is 10AM. If I bring it in after 10, even if it is marked overnight, as far as they are concerned it is 2 days. Additionally overnight is not available to all ZIP codes.
