Is anyone else seeing delayed delivery once again?

Good afternoon all! I'm curious if any of the other sellers on the boards are starting to notice delayed delivery again much like that of a year ago? I've noticed a couple of items the last week that I shipped thru USPS taking very odd routes. Then I had an incoming shipment that was to be delivered today from 100 miles east of me. Always came next day like clockwork but not today. I checked tracking and it was a LONG way from here to the east, as in the wrong direction. That was thru UPS. Now this evening I had a message from a buyer about a tracking number that shows as being a LONG way in the wrong direction from their location using USPS. So I start reviewing tracking numbers and see several that are taking very strange routes once again much like they did last summer during the brutal delays. So is anyone else seeing the same issues? If so when did you notice it and with what carrier? I'm just hoping that these are a few isolated random incidents and the timing was coincidental. Surely we aren't headed down the path of last year type delays once again.

Try not to look at tracking.

Tracking is a Seller Protection.

As a Buyer you are protected by the Money Back Guarantee.

If your purchase is not delivered by the closing of the estimated delivery date window eBay gave you, you can open a Not Received Dispute in the Resolution Centre. If the seller cannot prove delivery (not shipping, Delivery) you will be refunded.

The odd routing is a byproduct of spoke and hub delivery. Your parcel is sent to the closest open transit point, and there are many reasons why that may not make immediate sense.

For fun- this is an airline map of their spoke and hub flight routes. Try to get from Fort MacMurray to Halifax without passing through Vancouver or Toronto. spoke and hub Air Canada 1.jpeg

Yes! Usps keeps reassuring me that it’s just due to under-staffing in the warehouses but it’s super frustrating when I’m trying to provide good customer service. I have one package from Aug 11th sitting in a hub somewhere for 2 weeks now. I’ve also had 3-4 packages go half way across the country and back to the east coast for no reason at all. Over the summer most packages were delivered in 2-3 days, some even next day. Now everything is taking 7 days at minimum, even if they’re going to my home state. If I don’t have to use usps I dont, I’ve found that UPS is way quicker and has better customer service. Financially this doesn’t make sense for small items but anything over 5-7 pounds is usually cheaper and quicker through them anyways.

Yes I see them slowing down also.  Almost everything is getting delivered within a day or two of the eby estimated delivery date.  Thinking about shutting down again this year in December and part of January.

Yes, definitely. Also the Post Office here has not been scanning the tracking right away, had one package not get any updates until the package had practically arrived to it's destination.

Have 2 late shipments recorded to my account now. 😕

Yes! I have three "lost packages" stuck in the Chicago sorting facility.

I'm afraid this is starting up again

I have had several packages sit in the local UPS distribution center for days before they moved.  My neighbor who works for UPS said they are having huge delays obtaining parts for their aging vehicle fleet and thousands of trucks nationwide are sitting waiting for parts before they can get back on the road.  Hopefully the suppliers are sending the much needed parts by FedEx.
