International shipping program referance number question

Hello,

We are interested in joining with ebays international shipping program, however there is a snag we have hit. Or perhaps better to say some uncertainty about how an aspect of the shipping works.

We noticed that part of the shipping requirements is to include a reference number on the label. can be seen on this page Under the section for shipping and tracking your items, paragraph 2.

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/shipping-items/setting-shipping-options/ebay-international-shippin...

"If you don't use an eBay shipping label, add the tracking number yourself when you receive it from your preferred carrier, and include the reference number on the label. Once your item is received at our domestic shipping hub, we'll add international tracking so that you and your buyer can track the item's progress."

We print our own labels, but we can not add anything to the label outside of the standard fields for name and addresses. This is due to limitations with equipment/software, and not something that can be easily fixed.

We are also a part of the EBay Authenticity Guarantee program. EBay also uses a reference number of sorts for shipping to the AG program. This number is placed in the field for the shipping name. As such, we are able to import and print the label with no problems, and everything gets where it needs to go as the only reference number is in the name field for the shipping address.

In this case, is the reference number for the ISP similar to how the AG handles it? or is the reference number something we have to manually grab from the ebay order management screen and add to the label (which we will not be able to do for our shipments)?

For EIS the reference number is included in the 2nd address line. You shouldn't have any issues when importing your orders with your shipping partner.
