OK, I can't delete my other post, so I'm going to detail it here. I think my item (book) is lost in the mail because when I checked the tracking, it hasn't moved from a distribution spot since the 15th. I contacted the seller to let them know. I don't know why I didn't put down this info in my other post. And I can't edit that post on my phone app. Is there any way to ask a seller to use another delivery method? Asking in case I order something else.

sometime the tracking shows where it was and not where its at when you look at tracking.
you have the MBG on your side so please try not to worry
if it does not show up after the ETA you can come back here and we can help you

The 15th was just 2 days ago. Try to be patient.
If you have more information to provide, you should enter it as a response in this thread; don't start another thread.
The time to ask a seller for a different delivery method is before you purchase the item. Then they can edit the listing to provide additional option(s).

It's been stuck at the distribution center in my town since the 15th. It shouldn't have just sit there for 2 days.

Media Mail can take a couple weeks, not the norm but within the realm. If there is a bin with Media Mail and a bin with Priority and only room for one the Priority bin will move and the Media Mail gets treated like a red haired step child. In the future if the listing clearly says Media Mail you can ask the seller to revise the listing and include Priority. You'll pay for it, 2 pounds can cost about $14 from Wisconsin to CA versus $4 for Media Mail.

That's a very unrealistic expectation if it has been sent via Media Mail. It could sit for 5 days or even more at any sorting center along the way.

If it is Media Mail, that is one of the absolute least prioritized options by the USPS. We see this all the time here on the boards with Media Mail. USPS will shake it loose when they get around to it. 2 days is nothing at a distribution center for Media Mail. Could be another 2 days, could be a week.
Media Mail delivers in 2-8 business days after the day that it ships. Many times longer than 8 days.

OK. Thanks for letting me know. I had had another package ordered on eBay lost in the mail, so now I'm wary. Luckily the seller replaced the item, nd I got it.

Well the estimated delivery was today. And it's been stuck at a distribution center here in Fort Worth since the 15th. When should I report it lost?

When I have a usps package that's stuck somewhere, I go to the usps dot com web site and enter the tracking number there. Then there's an option to get text or email updates about the package. It may be coincidence, but nearly every time I do this, it seems to get the package moving.

Well, the estimated delivery was today. I keep thinking, if it had been me who failed to get it delivered on time, I'd be fired. I know it sounds silly, but that's what I keep thinking. I understand what you say, but they shouldn't estimate the time so soon, if it's going to be stuck in one place like that. And now I'm suspicious because I had to replace an item last week that was lost.

key word here is " estimated' so not a guarantee as others have posted media mail often takes longer it is actually normal for tracking to not show any movement for a couple days (just wait for Christmas/holiday rush)
It is always a good thing to keep in mind that packages are not usually scanned at every stop along the way to your home

eBay (not USPS nor the seller) provides that delivery date estimate, based on their own data and secret formula. Because it's Media Mail, I recommend that you try not to think about it for a week, instead of checking the tracking history.

If it's Media Mail like others stated it will take about 2 weeks maybe even a month for you to receive the item. Also, the USPS may open the package and check to make sure that the item qualifies for Media Mail.
As for the USPS tracking, I've had packages that took 4 or 5 days to scan / update by the PO so you just have to be patient with the process.

Just wanted to quickly add after viewing your feedback left for sellers a reminder that tracking is NOT a requirement for eBay sellers.
I deal with several sellers who never provide tracking and they are reliable trustworthy sellers
