Just an FYI. A squib in today's paper states the a contract has been signed making UPS the primary air carrier for the U S Postal Service.
I was always under the impression that most USPS air mail went as hold baggage on ordinary commercial airliners.
Then I see that United Airlines is asking pilots to take unpaid leave in May due to late deliveries of new planes caused by Boeing's manufacturing problems.
Talk about ripples in a pond.

Yes a lot of first class letters will go in the cargo hold of passenger jets. After September 11th no packages are shipped via passenger jets.
I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to be on a plane with a package in the cargo hold that goes kablooey at 30,000 feet in the air. Nothing good happens in that case.

Pretty big ripples at that.
