I did an Item swap, I keep getting a Issue Refund Email

My son was selling some jeans on my account. He shipped the wrong pair to a customer. Customer contacted us and we covered the shipping of the wrong pair back to us. Once we received the wrong pair, we shipped the correct pair.

Customer received correct pair of jeans, and even left a message saying thank you. But I guess there was an "issue refund" opened from him while we were discussing how to remedy situation? So now paypal is holding the funds until the Refund is issued? and Ebay is emailing me to issue the refund, when the customer has the correct pair of jeans.

We contacted the customer and asked for him to undo the refund issue on the item. Nothing yet?

How do we move forward on this?

I've read that some buyers have the option to close the request and others do not....I have no idea why.

When the buyer sent the wrong pair back did you issue a return label through the request and/or did he enter a tracking number in the request?  If so, you would probably have to phone eBay and get them to close it. I think that if eBay sees that you received the item back via the tracking number, they will issue the return after a certain of days so that is why it is important to call.  Please wait for other opinions on this though.

But if there is no record of an item being sent back within the request then the return will close about 30 days (or 30 business days) after it was opened.

You may find you can't. Most buyers go radio silent on eBay once a case is opened, especially if there issue has been corrected. Did you resolve the case? If so, what choice did you make? If the case wasn't resolved, eBay just may refund for you.

I assume you got a SNAD case and you chose return for refund thinking that you can just exchange them. If that's the case, you may not have a choice but to refund and hope the buyer pays for the other pair.
