Need some help/advice on an issue I am having. I sold this guy a lot of 29 comic books. The books were absolutely fine when they left my possession. The item was delivered two days ago. Then last night I get an email from the guys saying some of books were damaged. Some were bent and some looked like someone traced something on them.
I tell him there's no way. They've been in my own private collection, I inspected the books when they left and nothing was wrong with them. Now I sold the books below cost to move them and I also miscalculated the freight (I picked up the extra freight because it was on me and I didn't ask the seller to pick this up).
I told him I have pictures of some of issues he's talking about and they are not damaged like he says. Also two days have gone by without a word.
The customer then tells me he has had a death in the family and he can't take pictures of the items because he's an old guy and doesn't have that type of technology. He wants either some money back to keep the books or a full refund. How do I know he's not scamming me? If I go to Ebay arbitration do I have leg to stand on? I've been selling for years without a problem. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There is no eBay arbitration. Just tell the buyer to return all of the books for a full refund. Sounds like he knows what he's doing. eBay will not actually get involved and listen to both sides. If you ask them to step in the buyer will win and you may be forced to refund him and let him keep the books. I would just call his bluff and tell him to return for a full refund. If he didn't open a request it's further proof he is trying to scam you out of a partial refund.

Thanks for your help. You were right on the money on this one. Told him I wanted my books back and I'll refund him the money. He then gave me a werid long email. Said he was too busy to return the books. Blah Blah Blah. Totally tried to scam me.

...and didn't do a very good job of it, either. Piling on the I-don't-have-a-camera and the dead-relative stories in the same conversation? I was rolling my eyes before I even finished reading the whole posting.
You sent the proper response, and now let it go. The ball's back in his court, and I think he'll probably move on now. (What does his Feedback Left for Others look like?)
