How to re-print label

My package I mailed out got resent to me due to the fact that I accidentally packaged it in a USPS box versus what I selected- padded flat envelope. My question is, do I have to pay for another label or do I mark as "not shipped" and can reprint it somehow? Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: How to re-print label

Sorry if I am not definitive, but I think you might be out of luck...

If it has been scanned once into the system, I think you will need to print another label

IF the VOID option is not available for the original shipping label, then I don't think you can just "replace" it with the proper label....(a 5-day window to void)....also, if it has been scanned once, it is 'used'

Since your item was "In The System" I think the postage you paid is exhausted/used....

I think you have to pay for another label

Re: How to re-print label

If you have a padded Mailer you can fit it inside and just need another copy of the same label, first try to search your email for the item name. I get emails from eBay everytime I create a label and there is a "Reprint Label" button right inside the email (Subject of email is "Your ebay label is ready").

If that doesn't work than go to your Orders Tab in Seller Hub and to the Left select the "Shipping Labels" section. There should be a choice under Actions (to the left of the order) to "Reprint Label". This option may disappear after a certain amount of time. If that is the case you may have to repurchase another label by selecting "Repurchase Label". You could try to Void the first label if you are stuck with this route, but I am not sure if it will let you. I personally would try to somehow get the original label from the box before I would buy a new one if I couldn't void the first one.

Hopefully you can just Reprint it. Good luck!

Re: How to re-print label

The label has already been used, so you can't use it again.

Have a great day.

They have already used the label, so they'll have to buy a new one.

Re: How to re-print label

I helped my friends start a store and they made this mistake on 2 occasions in the same week as they were learning about shipping (In this case they used priority boxes when they were shipping First class and it was sent back to them) and they were able to reprint the labels and USPS accepted it just fine and it got to the buyer. Maybe it was a fluke I don't know.

Re: How to re-print label

Hi @jendombr-0

If the package was returned to you ... the item likely has been scanned into the system, and the postage has already been used.  You'd have to purchase a NEW label.

If you had brought the package into the post office ... and it was handed back to you without being scanned ... then you can reprint the label and use it.

The option to re-print a label purchased through eBay is available for 24 hours from the time of purchase. Since you went through the process of shipping and Return to Sender, it's gotta be well past that 24 hours @jendombr-0.

In addition, the label has already been used/scanned so USPS may not accept the package if you transferred to the padded flat rate you paid for and fixed a reprinted label to it. They could return it to you again without a new label which would delay things even further for the buyer.

What you should do is purchase a new label that matches the packaging you're using, whether you're leaving it in the box or changing to a padded flat rate envelope. You have a few options here:

1. You can go to the eBay transaction and select the option to purchase another label. No need to mark the order as not shipped - just buy a new label. Because you'll be purchasing a new label after your stated handling time, you'll take a hit to your late shipping stats.

2. You can purchase a label outside eBay from paypal.com/shipnow or from pirateship.com then send tracking to the buyer, explaining the delay, through eBay messages. If you upload the new tracking to the transaction it will affect your on-time shipping metrics, but if you keep the tracking in eBay messages that will be unaffected. Most accounts can withstand some late packages, but if you've had difficulties in that area recently then you may want to avoid yet another late package (and also address whatever reason is causing you to have late packages to begin with).

3. You can cancel the transaction which will trigger a full refund to the buyer. Then you can relist the item for sale. I wouldn't suggest this route unless the buyer communicates with you that the delayed shipping means they no longer want the item. If the buyer would prefer the cancellation to re-shipping then you can use the reason "buyer requested" for the cancellation.

Re: How to re-print label

Hi, guys!

Thank you all for your responses. I truly appreciate the time and explanation on this post! The box wasn't checked to receive emails for all your lovely responses so I never got a notification until later in the afternoon.

I ended up trying to find the email and print from there. Then as my husband was dropping off the order, he asked the postal worker about the package. It's funny because Derick always says he doesn't know things regarding certain shipping issues, "it's all electronic," our postman says. But today he was stumped and basically said how weird it was that they sent the package back. Normally they would just split the difference between USPS Flat Rate Medium Box & USPS Flat Rate Padded Envelope; sending me the bill via my account *10ish dollar difference ( I never got an email from USPS stating I was charged). He scanned the bar code and said it was good to go. He did however still say how weird it was because..."electronics."

So the theory is (because I don't think I will get the answer from the postal service) because it never left the postal office after being scanned, somehow the bar code was still active. It did lay dormant on tracking saying it was in the hands of the postal office for a few days. Then when I checked today before re-shipping it stated "shipping label created" as if it was sent to its first stages of life. As of 2 hours ago it departed the post office!

Thanks again for all the advice and help!

P.S. We love our postman!

Re: How to re-print label

I'm so glad you were able to reprint the label from the email still and that they accepted it back. I thought it might work since it had for my friends in the past. Great job!!

Re: How to re-print label

There are truly some absurd things out there. On Shopify, I can print the labels five days later if I want. If the item is already used, you can not void the label or reshipment. eBay doesn't even seem to know what it's blocking on its own. I'm in the same situation. I drop the product to Dropbox, but it hasn't been scaned as received, and I can't cancel it or resend it. What am I going to do, really? It's a shame.
