I have to mail some decal sets (like a piece of paper) in a 6 1/2" x 9 1/2" paper envelope. What shipping type or rate do I use in the shipping details? When I put in large envelope on the drop down menu it thinks it is a package, so shipping prices here would be outrageous. It won't let me put in an ounce either. It is first class mail and I don't want an $8 charge for this. The shipping should be about $1.16 according to the post office. eBay phone line couldn't help, and a supervisor couldn't figure it out either! Please help.

eBay Shipping does not supply labels for First Class LARGE envelope.
eBAy Shipping does supply labels for First Class package/parcel/THICK envelope.
If you wish to ship via LARGE envelope, put some stamps on the envelope & mail it.
It won't have tracking.

Thanks Barb, I wish the eBay representatives would get some training in this area. I have spent 3 hours between the chat room, two people who answer calls, and one supervisor who were all incompetent. You fixed my issue, told my why, and it took maybe 5 minutes of your time. I owe you!!!

I just went through this yesterday. It is maddening. We were grossly misinformed by ebay on the new first class large envelope. I don't understand why they would even offer it! You cannot print first class postage for a large envelope on ebay. (After I spent days editing items that were the right size and that could be sent at the new rate GRRRRR) Even after spending a half hour on the phone with ebay's help dept. It was clear they had no answers for me, so I talked to my local postmaster yesterday. Turns out its because this service does not offer tracking and ebay shipping requires tracking! I lost money on postage on several items because I was forced to use the now more expensive ground advantage.... WAY more expensive.. for the same service because we it includes insurance, something I don't really need on most of my items because they ship very well. It would be really nice if ebay knew what the heck they were doing. Now I have to go back and re-revise all those items! GRRRRR I honestly think ebay owes sellers the difference in what they had to pay to ship their items because of their MISINFORMATION. This is frustrating as heck. Who's going to pay well over $5.00 now to ship something weighs under 2 oz and the item itself costs say 3-4 dollars? My sales are dead because of this new postage change, and I speak from experience. I see from this thread that other sellers are saying just to go to the PO and ship it that way, but doing it that way you don't get the ebay discounted shipping so it will be MORE than what ebay is showing you for flat rate shipping with discounts on multiple items, and you don't get tracking, which can void your seller protection if a buyer claims they didn't get the item. Shipping without tracking also prevents you from responding to buyers wondering when there item is going to be delivered. You have no way of knowing. FRUSTRATING.

You were not forced to ship via Ground Advantage; you can mail your items as First Class flats (AKA Large envelope) if they meet the USPS criteria for weight, dimensions, flexibility, etc. You just can't purchase postage for flats through eBay. If your item is eligible to be mailed as a flat (AKA Large envelope), then you can take it to the PO or just put stamps on it. This has always been the case with eBay postage.
Yes, probably the reason that eBay doesn't sell postage for First Class flats is because they lack tracking.
You have replied to a thread that is so old, it goes back to the era before USPS invented the service they call "Ground Advantage," which merged First Class packages in with Parcel Select Ground (and its retail equivalent, Retail Ground). But this was a change in name only; eBay had always sold postage for First Class packages (but not letters or flats), and they now sell postage for Ground Advantage packages in that low weight range.
