A few months ago my mom bought a perfume on here as a gift with paypal credit. By the time i had opened it it was already past the sellers 14 day return policy, Its Thierry Mugler alien brand perfume which is normally very strong, (I have samples to compare) But this one was weak and wore off in 10 mins. even though it was supposedly "New in box". I've messaged the seller multiple times and they refuse to refund or even let me sell it back to them even though the item seems to be either old or fake! Is there anyway to get a refund?

The seller may have a 14 days return policy, but that is trumped by ebay's MBG (Money Back Guarantee) if you file an Item Not as Described case within 30 days of receiving the item. There is a RESOLUTION CENTER link at the bottom of most ebay screens. If it is past 30 days, then you go file with Paypal because they allow 180 days.

That does not work, ebay is not really interested in helping buyer but is much more looking into backing seller. Otherwise they would help seller. Every see their "ebay money back guarantee"? Not worth the paper it is written on.
Why don't they put warnings on each page like they should. They don't give a dam about the purchaser.... they make money off the seller.
Stay away for ebay. New good sites are coming up and their is the old trustworthy Amazon. Not always cool but trustworthy.

LOL! I think if one reads the threads in the Community here they will learn the exact opposite! The MBG is in fact, HIGHLY slanted toward BUYERS against sellers! While eBay does make its money off of fees to the sellers, the point is that without buyers it does not matter how many sellers there are, sellers are not needed. Thus most policies favor buyers to keep them happy and keep buying!
One small problem however, buyers need to:
1. be aware of the MBG
2. follow the rules laid out in the MBG processes
3. not act emotionally, rather act rationally when something goes badly
4. be humble, set aside hubris & be willing to ask for help, rather than blindly thinking they can do it on their own
5. Have enough intellectual accumen to read & follow the rules.
So if your opinion is a result of a bad experience, perhaps posting the details and kindly asking for help, others could guide you to a resolution?

I spent a day trying to get in touch with anyone from ebay without success. This web site is a joke.
Long and short ... I purchased a product, received product which did not fit according to professionals at a large dealership. I requested a refund. What I got bact was a nonsense letter from seller and a 'dashboard' which showed ebays noting issues was "Closed". That was that. What the hell??? Spend hours trying to find how to get a hold of someone to just ask WTH? You call that buyer service?
P.S. Not everyone knows your acronym's like MGB.
I stand by my post.

I am having that problem right now. I bought an item that just didnt work like I expected. The seller asked to be contacted instead of contacting Ebay. I sent her a text and she gladly sent me a return label. I promptly returned it, and have been waiting 17 days so far to get my refund back into my paypal acct. I don't understand why the delay in returning my money.

Did you file a case on eBay? If you let the seller talk you into NOT doing that you let yourself get scammed. eBay advises ALL sellers to have returns run through the Resolution Center (RC).
IF it has been less than 30-days since the tracking shows the item was originally delivered to you, you can open a case in the RC. If it has been longer than that, you will have to go to PayPal and open a case.
Make sure you use the reason for the case "didn't work or was damaged". Upload the tracking number of the return shipping. Wait a day or two and call eBay customer Service and ask them to close this in your favor.
Let us know how it turns out or start a new thread if you need additional help/advice

You are simply wasting your time trying to file a dispute through eBay's MBG since by your own admission your mother purchased it "A few months ago." The time limit on eBay's MBG disputes is 30 days. You will need to file any disputes you may have through PayPal as they have a 180 day time limit.
