I had a buyers remorse return from Australia.
Tracking showed it delivered but I did not get them. So I went to the PO and found out they were delivered to an apartment complex if anything happened after that, no one knows, however, they won't give me the proof that I need to show Ebay I didn't get them claiming that its for internal use only AND they won't update tracking to show that I did not receive them.
They won't give me any $$ because the buyer didn't have insurance on them. So I am supposed to refund $87 to my buyer and be out the cost of shoes when I have done nothing wrong. How can I escalate this with USPS?
I'm not trying to screw my buyer either. She's paid enough in shipping but she really should have insure them.

Yes, there is a thread about this elsewhere but my question is different here.
My question on the other thread was in selling and is about how to deal with ebay/my buyer. I posted this question under shipping to see if anyone had a similar problem with USPS and how to escalate with USPS, not ebay or my buyer.
Sorry for duplicate posts and not making it more clear.

Something I bought from another country shows it arrived at a post office 10 miles away on Jan 31, then it shows as in transit to destination on Feb 1, Feb 2, Feb 3 and then in transit delayed on Feb 3. My local post office was of no help as usual to see where it might be. Now I have to wait until Feb 24, the estimated delivery date, to file a claim against the seller. Nothing you can do with USPS since you didn't send it.

You can file for a lost package here. The item may or may not turn up:
https://www.usps.com/help/missing-mail.htm
You can visit the apartment complex where it was delivered to reception and ask the apartment manager, doorman, concierge or whoever is there when you walk in if they still have the package or if there is any additional information they can provide.
Assuming you have the same mail carrier as the apartment complex you can speak directly with your carrier as they may remember the package if it was given back to them.
It is unlikely USPS will do anything if the package isn't located because you indicated (I think) that it was not insured.

Thanks for the help.
The PO did contact the complex and the said they gave it back to the carrier and the carrier has no memory for picking it up.
Maybe I should still go in for myself. So frustrating.
Thanks again!

BANANA..
I admit I am not following all of this. HOWEVER-I DO not understand why you said the buyer was to blame for not insuring your package??? Insurance is ONLY FOR theprotection o\f the SELLER---not for the buyer. Buyers do not need insurance. They are protected by Ebay and PayPal.
On the other hand, the seller is supposed to be protected by Ebay---when the seller has Tracking that shows on-line proof of Delivery to the buyer's zipcode. So do you have that on-line proof --or not. ???

Its a return to me from the buyer - buyer's remorse.
and she has proof that it was delivered to my zip code....unfortunately for me, it was delivered to an apartment complex a few miles away.
USPS admits they made a mistake but "sorry" is all I get since it wasn't insured.

Insurance is for the protection of the seller not the buyer. It is the sellers responsibility to get a purchase delivered to the buyers address.

Insurance is not always for the seller. Not a buyers remorse return. Which is what this is.
