How to Start a class action against fedex and UPS for overcharging after delivery is made.

I am getting quite frustrated with Fedex and UPS.

I accurately measure, weight and print a label supposedly at a cheaper cost (because using ebay discounted rates) only to find out, after each delivery, an extra charge, which at times can be greater than the sale itself.

I even add an inch in each dimension, and a full extra pound on the weight but doesn't matter,

they always find a way to steal money at the end, while ebay watches...

The items are shipped in boxes so the dimension is written on it and doesn't change depending on who's measuring.

The losses in my small store are in the hundreds/ thousand every year.

Ebay doesn't protect us either, in fact, is giving them full permission to charge our accounts without any detailed explanation at all.

The over charges are anywhere from 25% to +100% of the original shipping label.

The only thing you can do is call ebay, have them open a dispute which you almost never win.

Using USPS seems to be the only feasible option but sometimes the weight and dimensions restriction are

not compatible with the item you're shipping.

What to do? The money is being illegally taken from my account.

My remedy is to ship via USPS exclusively. I keep in mind that some things are just to big to ship. But that's just me...

The money is being legally taken from your account. You agreed to it when you used eBay to sell items and bought your shipping label.

UPS and FedEx on eBay with the "discount" have a contract with eBay.

You should open your own accounts or take the packages to UPS and FedEx.

Then you pay there and all fees should be included and not added after. You would also have better luck fighting the extra fees.

I only sell items that fit inside a 12x12x12 or smaller box and ship USPS.  UPS and FEDEX can both go swim upstream.  I'm not saying the Post Office is perfect or even close, but the price is the price.

In my point of view they are at least misleading the selllers with a supposedly discounted label only to "switch" the cost after the fact. If this is not fraud i don't know what it is.

They are raking in millions every year and no one is doing anything, not even ebay.

UPS has a list of special upcharges that number in the hundreds

it was posted this morning and all I can think of is they are just plain greedy and they use ebay as a go between to bilk  ebay shippers

UPS and ebay think they are so special and dont have to explain any money grabs

you wont get any good answers from them because they say we already gave you an answer

Hmm since eBay is the merchant of record you would have to sue them and then they would have to sue said company....

With FedEx and UPS, the charge shown on Ebay is just an estimate.

As you've found out, you don't find out what the total price is until after it's been delivered, after they add their other charges.

Have a great day.

Fed Ex uses dimensional weight. The bigger the package the more it costs regardless of the actual weigh of the package. It has to do with how much stuff they can cram into one plane, truck etc. Surcharges sometimes do not appear until after the shipment arrives at the FedEx facility. If they have to drive the darn package 50 miles to a rural location you might get charged for that.

I use Fed Ex with the discount but I only ship small 9x6x2 packages. My estimates are always correct but I am not dealing with large parcels with their dimensional weight issues. If I did I would have to opt out.

Use Fed Ex only for small parcels, use USPS for large parcels.

I am having the same issue. I have even taken pictures and video for my packages as proof. I call eBay and get the run around, I was refunded only once and that was because the weight and dimensions were exactly the same but I was charged double the amount. They didn't "have a leg to stand on" for that one so I was refunded. I received another 4 more overcharges after that. I would call and get a representative that would put in a dispute claim. I wouldn't hear back from them and would call again with the same run around. Finally one said they would send a refund and never did. When I called back asking about why I hadn't received a refund their answer was " we gave you a one time courtesy credit for shipping so you are not entitled to another"..say what!!??. I informed them I have pictures and video but after "talking to a supervisor" they are "unable to accept further proof for my claims" (how convenient). They won't accept factual proof and want to take money without your knowledge or consent. It's ridiculous. I figured since it was always with FedEx then I would just ship with UPS. Now I am having the same issue. I wish there was a way to start a class action lawsuit. I have read so many other posts with people citing the same problem. I can only imagine the number that didn't check their statements or never spoke out. Not sure what I want to do at this point. I am thinking of just closing up as fast as I started.

I would also think about charging ebay back for the difference, as clearly FEDEX and UPS knows their routes when they scan it at their stores, so why does that not follow thru on ebay's calculator as it does when using USPS. If ebay's calculated price is not the same as actually charged then the ebay calculator is faulty and worthless and should be either corrected, or ebay accountable for the difference the seller loses, or simply removed from ebay....Ebay needs to get together with both FEDEX and UPS and negotiate the contract like they did with USPS, to make this work properly, they stand to lose to much money by not doing so and getting tossed off ebay....Also this is NOT something that has just cropped up, the FEDEX UPS thing has been that way for years now, which is why I will not use either(also they damage way more stuff than USPS, and are a PIA to make claims with) I was told by an ebay techie long ago they know they problems with the FEDEX/UPS calculated shipping calculator, but somehow never manages to get corrected....When (rarely) I do need to use either of them that particular listing is padded(handling) by around 10.00.
