I'm listing an item 50 x 19 x 9 inches. Girth is 56 inches. Does ebay calculate the $15 surcharge into buyer shipping cost? Or do I include with handling? And will ebay include it in shipping cost, as with insurance. I talked with ebay rep and she was very vague. In other words I don't want to double charge buyer. Thanks for any advice.

I would list with calculated shipping, input exact measurements and weight and select UPS Ground as the service. Find out what insurance cost is if you need that and enter that amount as handling unless there is a place to specifically add insurance. Not in front of my desktop right now or I would look.

Oh yes, will ebay add the surcharge when I buy label?

The shipping calculator will include the $15 surcharge (for length over 30 inches) if you set it up with accurate measurements; and so will the label purchase page. No need to add the surcharge as a handling fee.
Both shipping calculators will also figure the dimensional weight of your package: 52 pounds.

If you want to be absolutely certain, look at your listing and see what the cost is to a far away location. Then go to USPS.com, enter the dimensions, weight and destination and see what the cost is there.

Here is the real sucky part: $15.00 surcharge for over 30', the dimensional weight of 52 lbs., AND the $15.00 surcharge for being over 2 cubic feet!

Thanks
I had thought UPS would be better choice then USPS. I just wasn't sure if would calculate all the surcharges included. I know insurance is selected when creating label, so need to include in handling.
I really appreciate the clarity. The agent I spoke with earlier gave the impression surcharges wouldn't be included.

Thanks for the clarity! Also I hadn't calculated dimensional weight. Actual weight is 32lbs. So I guess there will be an additional surcharge for that too?

Good idea!

I get it now! So the surcharge is $15 + $15 + the 52lb weight charge instead of 32lb weight. That does suck!
Thanks everyone for the help

Hi again all,
So I listed my item dimensions in order of Length, width, height. I added a little just in case so 51 x 10 x 19. So shipping cost listed as $66.00-$399 using UPS. I accidently left the listing page and had to start over, as it was a listing revision and not initial listing so a draft wasn't saved. When I did it again I reversed order dimensions when reentered it- 51 x 19x 10. Funny the cost came up differently and much higher like $125-$500. I put it back in L x w x h order again and it switched back. I went ahead and listed, but am now nervous. It shouldn't make any difference what order is in.
Anyway, I know it sounds silly, I just don't want any surprises. Thanks again for the help.
