Haven't sold on eBay for years and was shocked to see how much they have gone up. Their take used to be 10% on clothing and now is 15%....YIKES. They used to take 9% of final shipping charges but can't seem to find anything telling me what they take now. Thinking of getting back on but will depend on whether it is worth it or not. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

you can use "help & contact" to find the answers to many questions on eBay
FVF %age is on the amount that the buyer pays

The final value fee is a percentage of buyer's entire payment total: item price, shipping and handling and sales tax if any. There is not a different FVF rate for shipping.
The FVF rate (for non stores, in most categories) was 9% from 2011 until 2013, when it was raised to 10%. Then there was another jump when eBay took over the processing of payments: Instead of paying 10% to eBay and 2.9% to PayPal, the rate was 12.9% to eBay and zero to PayPal. As you noticed, the FVF rate in a few categories is more than the basic rate; others are lower.

The final value fees are based on the total that the buyer pays which includes payment for the item, shipping and tax if applicable.

Thanks so much. I used to get the discount on shipping and would have to add 9% just to break even. Never made anything on the shipping which is fine with me. Most of the items I ship are under 16 oz so fees are pretty simple.

Any seller who's been away from selling for awhile would be well advised to read the source supplied by @buyselljack2016 .

A couple of points:
First: eBay's Final Value Fee (FVF) percentage on most clothing is currently 13.25%. This rate has been in effect only a few weeks, since February 15. Jewelry and watches, however: if you sell a piece of jewelry, even costume/fashion (fake) jewelry, then the FVF percentage is 15%.
By the way, the Final Value Fee that eBay retains also includes a flat amount of $0.30 per order. Thirty cents.
Second: You may find there are other factors to the "worth" of selling anything on eBay than simply the amount of money you receive as profit.
Example: My selling ID had a Thing listed for a couple of weeks at $5.99, and yesterday received a buyer's offer to pay $4.99. I debated with myself for about five minutes and realized I wanted that Thing off my kitchen table more than I wanted or needed another roughly 70 cents in net profit. I accepted the offer and the buyer paid within the hour. Everybody is happy, at least for now.

Thanks for the info. When I was selling many years ago it was a hobby and really fun. My daughter and grandkids liked wearing "high end" clothing so they would give to me when they didn't want anymore. I sold at a reasonable price and made good money. I really wasn't in it for the money and the stuff I sold was given to me so the money was good no matter what I got. I have since retired from my job and want to start up again by selling some of my own stuff and de-cluttering my house. Will just have to list a few items and see if that old "spark" will come back.....lol. I also would accept offers just to get rid of inventory.
