How is this possible (Deals with shipping costs)

I have a few cases of Sopako MRE's (Meal, Ready to Eat) that I thought about selling.

Checked the ones that have already been sold and some of them were selling for as low as $35.00 (One sold for $14 plus $20 shipping).

I took the case to my local post office and had them estimate shipping it across the country to get an idea of what the cost would be and it was a minimum of $60.

I know I'm new here but how in the world are people making any money on these or am I missing a huge shipping secret?

I didn't want to post a link because I thought it wouldn't be good etiquette.

Shipping cost depends on weight and distance. A package that costs $60 to ship across the county could cost $20 to ship to a buyer who's closer to you.
