How is my shipping time less than 5 stars? Getting dinged because of USPS delivery time

Just got dinged from a buyer on shipping time because it took USPS longer than estimated to delivery.  Item shipped on 12/31/18 - I ALWAYS take to local post office and pkg was scanned that day.  I also entered the tracking number on item same day.  Going from IN to GA - was just delivered 1/12/19.  Why can I be dinged when I did exactly what I was supposed to do related to shipping time?  If an item is shipped within the stated handling time - that star should be "grayed out".  Shipping time should be if seller ships when stated - not how long it takes USPS/UPS/FedEx to deliver it.  Suggestions??

Huh?  You have 1991 feedback and a 100% rating.  Plus your  DSRs are 20, 20, 19, 19 and the 19s are not for shipping.

Not trying to be smart or contrary but you have numbers that others would love to have.  I don't see where this is an issue nor that it would effect your ratings?

Most buyers aren't sophisticated enough to drill into the details.  So if it were me, I'd be happy and keep focusing on providing good customer service.

In the end the seller with a "perfect record" doesn't make any more money.

Good luck!

All sellers are held to the standards you see in detail on your Seller Dashboard.  Your FB appears to be fine.  You appeared to have taken some time off selling, returning recently.

In your Shipping Time DSRs, you have had a couple of your buyers at least disagree with your assessment that you ship on time otherwise you would not be at 4.7 in that DSR.  But still it is a good rating.

It is not new at all for a seller to be held responsible for carrier delays.  But look at your dashboard.  Follow the numbers on that page.  Each section has the ability to see the details of anything that is being counted against you.  This is something you should view on a regular basis so you know if you are venturing into a problem that you may be able to avoid.

So many people have said that if you get dinged on stars it can affect how your listings show up, affect discounts, etc.  Then you read that ebay is NOT using those stars to ding you.  Just frustrating to have USPS performance held against me.  Thanks for your reponse!

Just frustrating when I ship next day after payment (which is sooner than the 3 business days I show in listing) While I did take a few months off from shipping, I have been doing eBay for many years.  While their FB policy has gotten better - the stars need to be worked one.  No one should be held responsible for the carrier.  Instead of calling that star "shipping time" - call it - Did seller ship on time.  But thank you for your input!

Feedback and DSRs no longer count toward seller performance standards, as it should be, because those things are 100% out of the seller's control. The only thing that counts is what's shown in your dashboard.  https://sellerstandards.ebay.com/dashboard

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Well it doesn't seem right if you ship on time & are uploading  tracking within your handling time
If so that star area should be grayed out to the buyer
I ship within 1 day ebay automatically gives me 5 stars

I just went in to leave some feedback and my seller shipped within handling time & I can't leave him DSR stars for that.
ebay took away our ability to run a DSR report but if it was me I might call them.
Is your seller dashboard ok ?

Gosh, I am sorry, but I just do not understand this concern.

While it is frustrating to have the shipper mess up with slow delivery, one can't control how a buyer ranks the experience when they select some stars.  Plus the fact that most buyers don't read closely anyway and are offering a courtesy of their time by filing FB, one has no control over a DSR star.  So why get frustrated over something one has no control over?

I looked at your feedback page and I don't see anything that a buyer is going to find that would effect your business.  Several FB comments (6) have noted "fast shipping."  That would be the take away I would come away with as I doubt I'd notice the partial star on the line with the DSR "shipping time." Then I'd have to hover over that partial star and wait for the 4.7/5.0 to pop up.  THEN, in face of the 6 buyers who added "fast shipping" to their comments, I'd have to decide that that 4.7 was a "horror" and run away from you.  Me thinks THAT kind of buyer you don't need.

What I do see in the feedback is that you do a very good job of packaging your shipments!  I mean SH*T!  I build triple walled boxes around items to make certain an elephant could stand on them during transport and I have NEVER gotten a FB with "well packaged!" So that is a good thing.

I just do not see where any minor ding on a DSR is going to effect your ability to sell nor that it could be a concern.  Just keep doing what you are doing and that "ding" on the star will "age out" and you'll be back to a full 5 star.  In fact, since I posted last night you have lost 2 DSR rating stars and are now down to 18 across the board!  (they were 20/19 so 2 probably aged out).

So what I am trying to do is put this all in context as it appears one is too focused on perfection rather than business results.  I mean, if you had a bunch of false SNADs then you'd have something to be frustrated over.  This is small potatoes!  Are you making a profit?  Having fun selling?  That would be my focus if I were in your shoes.

All fwiw! I'm just sayin'
