I am offering free shipping in my one of my listings. I figured at most I would be paying $12 for shipping label. The item I am selling is priced at $75 and I received an offer for $50, which I would normally accept without hesitation however the buyer is Canada. I am in California. When I entered info in Ebay's shipping calculator, the label comes out to $30, which would put my net profit in the negative.
I thought when I created the shipping policy I excluded international buyers from being offered free shipping.
This is what my shipping policy shows for Ebay international shipping..
Flat: same cost to all buyersCalculated: Cost varies by buyer locationNo international shipping

How it works is your buyer will pay an extra shipping cost to there location. Ebay will automatically charge it. The free shipping on your end will be shipped to an Ebay hub. Ebay takes over from there. Now as far as the shipping label that's definitely a big gap from assuming $12 and it being $30. What is the weight and size of this item?

I thought I would have to pay the cost of shipping the item to Canada. The $30 was what it would cost to ship to Canada using Ebays shipping calculator. From what I understand in your reply, I will be paying for domestic shipping to a hub and the buyer will be responsible for the rest.
Thank you!!

"eBay International Shipping"

We never actually see what the full charge is to international buyers as we only charge the shipping to the hub in Illinois. Or in your case you shipped "free" to the hub, but the buyer will still pay from the hub to their location. eBay handles all of that + any additional fees if they apply

You can see how much the buyer will pay by changing your location to match and then look at the listing. Sometimes there are two options for the buyer, one includes taxes and one does not (collected at delivery), the buyer can choose which they prefer.

Did this work out as described?
I have an item that I sold as "free shipping" and missed excluding Spain. Do I only owe the shipping to the hub and ebay will charge the buyer from the hub to spain?

Although this is an old thread, I'll respond.
I assume you're talking about one of the items that sold either May 27 or May 28.
Both of those listings show shipping to Spain:
Magic: US $18.16 eBay International Shipping
Chaos: US $17.56 eBay International Shipping

Great, thanks. So I just owe shipping to the hub.
