Does ebay determine this date by the date of acceptance on the tracking? Because, during the USPS Covid Holiday delay many of my packages just show label creation status and no acceptance... I have one that's been stuck like that since Dec 15.
I opened a trace on that on December 30, which apparently adds a tracking status as "research case opened". I don't know if that's what set it off, but ebay is showing that the item was shipped on Dec 30... which is totally upsetting my buyer because they think I am lying to them that I didn't actually ship it out on Dec 15.
What do I tell my buyer now that ebay made me look like a liar? Buyer is telling me they are going to leave me a negative.

Looking back on a few orders, if I created a label on Sunday the 3rd and it catches a carrier scan on Monday the 4th, eBay shows shipped on the 4th. Carrier scan is what they go by. Drop off, pickup, processed through, depart, etc. And evidently, research case opened.
The only thing you can do is explain the situation as you know it.

Whether you are dropping your items off at the post office or having them picked up, you need to watch and verify that they are scanning all of your packages. I'm pretty sure you should be able to pull up a invoice that will show the date that you purchased the shipping label. With your customer you will want to be empathetic towards their situation while providing great customer service. Whenever a customer contacts us about not receiving their package the first line of the our reply is "We apologize for the issue you are experiencing with USPS". Then we proceed to let them know about the significant delays and missed scans that are affecting their services. Be empathetic and helpful towards their situation, as they do not care about yours.

Yup. Stinks huh. Had a scan sheet and everything. Ebay made me out to be a liar. I explained everything to the buyer and mentioned that hopefully my feedback rating and score would help him to see that I’m trustworthy and ship out quickly.

I talked with CS and they can confirm that the system is mistakenly telling the buyer that it was shipped out on a date that's incorrect due to the tracking update for the USPS trace.
They said keep doing what you're doing with the buyer and hopefully he'll believe your word over ebay's. I asked them to start a ticket or something to make notice of this flaw in the system so they can address it. He says yea... they aren't going to address the issue internally.
Just a heads up for sellers.
